  • Halloween Fun Cozy Trilogy

I so enjoy these seasonal trilogies of cozy mysteries! Catching up with old favorites like Leslie Meier's Lucy Stone brings back so many memories. Barbara Ross is always a breathe of Maine air with her Clambake heroine Julia Snowden. I have read Lee Hollis off and on but Hayley's newspaper column at chapter changes threw me off for a few minutes while I adjusted to her time line. I must look up this series and give it a try. The three authors did a lovely job of introducing you to their characters or adding another adventure for their followers. Halloween Party Murder, Death of a Halloween Monster, Scared Off are a great short story combination. I volunteered to read an ARC from Kensington Publishing through Net Galley.

  • Halloween Party Murder!

This book is actually three different cozy mystery novellas centered around Halloween. They were all complete mysteries even though they were short. I liked all of them to the point that I didn't want them to end. The plots were twisty and I couldn't figure out whodunnit until the very end. The settings were full of Halloween descriptions and made me think of the cool weather of autumn. I recommend this to anyone who loves good cozy mysteries.

  • I love a good Halloween story or three!

Three Halloween stories from three authors’ series I read, I definitely got the treat and not the trick this Halloween! Whether you are familiar with these authors and their work, this is a great way for your to get your Halloween season started and discover a new cozy series or two…or three! Pardon me while I go off and plan my jack o lantern designs for this year, I’ve been ready since I started reading!

  • Partying with a Corpse or Three

This Halloween, we are being treated to another novella collection with these three cozy mystery authors as they feature their series sleuths. First up, Lucy Stone finds a dead body after a haunted house fund raiser. Then, Hayley Powell’s Halloween party in her new restaurant ends with the discovery of a corpse in the freezer. Finally, when Julia Snowden’s niece finds herself at a high school party, Julia goes to bring her home, only for the police to discover a dead body in the shed out back. Out of these three authors, I only regularly read Barbara Ross’s Maine Clambake mysteries, so that story, featuring Julia Snowden, was my favorite. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy all three of the novellas. All three feature a strong assortment of characters and a solid mystery. Even if I figured out a part of the story early, I didn’t have it all pieced together until the end. My only complaint was the politics brought into the first novella in the collection. Even then, I’m a bit torn since it did play a part in the story while also feeling like I was reading a lecture. Still, if you are in the mood for a murderous Halloween party, you’ll be glad you picked up this novella collection.

  • Good read

HALLOWEEN PARTY MURDER: A perfectly good murder mystery, but I just wasn't looking for something so realistic as opposed to a nice escape from reality. Suppose that comes from dealing with spousal abuse professionally. DEATH OF A HALLOWEEN PARTY MONSTER: This one was a pretty good whodunit, but the best part was the wacky characters and (sometimes slapstick) humor! SCARED OFF: A teen Halloween party ends up being crashed by boys with beer and the chaperone winds up dead and the shed. Good story! RECIPES!
