  • A hockey story with a twist of romantic suspense

I devour everything written by L.P. Dover. I love her writing and always look forward to curling up with her stories! Kellan is the Captain of the Carolina Strikers. He is a patron at a bar where Kristen works. He has an interest in her, but she seems hesitant and he can't understand why. Kristen has a past she is hiding from and a fear of trusting anyone. She is very hesitant to get involved with a man for several reasons including trusting her judgment. This is a romantic suspense story. I don't want to ruin the story and say too much. I will say one click for a great story that oozes hot athletes, suspense, drama, angst and love! Why no voting buttons? We don'

  • Don't! Just don't!

What a waste of time and money! The sample reads like it is written by a different person. This is defintely NOT a hockey story. The incosistently trauatmatised heroine digs the same behaviour in the hero that she detested in the very stereotypical villain. The hero is a guy with serious anger management issues, who needs to be babysat by a few FBI agents that just happen to be friends with the heroine. Yeah, talk about unlikely, and I truly do try myself at suspension of disbelief. There is, apart from a couple of scenes that would probably add up to a single print page, no hockey in this "book", that consists out of very diffently written scenes. The author probably heard that hockey romances sell and just converted this temper-tandrum guy into a hockey player. Not that it ruins much, as both, hero and heroine, have no fixed character traits except inconsistant annoyingness.

  • Not for me

This book was not for me. I stopped reading at the end of the prologue before we even met the hero. The set up was just OTT, and I didn't like the heroine in the bit I did read. I couldn't get into it at all.

  • Great read

I enjoyed this one! I'm not sure the cover or title really do the story justice. Don't get me wrong that's what grabbed my attention first but this isn't really a hockey story. The MC Kellan is a hockey player but the story centers more around the struggles Kristen is dealing with and the romance that blossoms between Kellan and Kristen. He just happens to be a hockey player. The story does have a nice element of suspense with a couple of twists to the story that keeps things interesting. The resolution to the issues was slightly anticlimactic but not bad enough to turn me off the story. Overall the story is good, the writing is well done, and I really enjoyed these characters so it was a pleasurable read for me. I would definitely recommend it.
