A Cute Novella that will keep you turning the page

This quick novella is perfect for an afternoon reading while the weather outside is frightful. Angie and the gang have closed the restaurant for a week to cater a private event for a famous band that is getting back together for an upcoming tour. The owner of the house, a college friend of Felicia, is throwing in a week at his house after the event. Angie and Felicia have planned a retreat, full of cooking and planning. Of course, whenever Angie is around, you know there is bound to be a murder. When one of the band members dies from a drumstick thrust into his chest, everyone is worried. Is there a murderer in their midst? I enjoy this series and its characters. They are a close-knit group, who joke around with one another and the dialogue is well-written. I am still not sure about all of their backgrounds, but that is something else that keeps me interested. The mystery had a few red herrings, but it was quickly and easily solved. There was not a big reveal, but rather and confession during a questioning period. It was a well written story and there was a full story packed into those few pages. It definitely did its job of keeping me interested in this series while waiting for the next full length story to come out.

    A fun holiday read

Have a Deadly New Year is #3.5 in the Farm to Fork series by Lynn Cahoon. It is a novella set around the New Year holiday. Angie Turner and her crew from The County Seat restaurant are hired to cater a dinner for a rock band and then they plan to spend the week planning for the next business year. Things go awry when one of the band members is found in the dining room with a drumstick through his chest. The writing was solid, it is the first book of this series that I have read, but I was not lost with the characters and their relationships. It is a fun fill in for those waiting for the next to be published or for those that just want a holiday themed book. Thank you #NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read #HaveaDeadlyNewYear.

    New Year Novella

The County Line crew is catering a private party for a Rock Band. While Felicia grew up with the rocker who owns the house, Angie can’t bring herself to trust him or anyone in the party when another member of the band is murdered. A short novella to tide me over until the next entry in the series. Always welcome when you’re stalking the author’s page to see when the next full length book is going to be released. Love all of Lynn Cahoon’s series, she is a talented writer.

    Country House Mystery

I enjoyed this Holiday Novella. Angie and her staff are catering a private New Year Dinner for a Rock N' Roll band at a singer's house in Sun Valley. When the band leaves the next morning for LA they will get to stay at the house and enjoy a week's retreat. During the dinner all is not well between the band members. Most of the party goers choose to leave early. The next morning there is a snow storm and a dead body. The sheriff has a missing child to find so it is up to them to solve the crime and stay safe. The story is short and it moves along quickly. The mystery was OK but there were not many suspects and it was easy to solve. I did like the characters and country house setting. I will be reading more in this series. Enjoy this fun Holiday novella.
