    4.5 Stars!

I think this has got to be one of my favorite holiday novella rom-coms ever. The humor hit all the right notes for me. Lily was such a wonderful protagonist with a perfectly quirky personality that kept me compulsively reading. Add the sexy Greek hunk, Christos, some light mystery/suspense, and altogether they created the ideal conditions for a funny holiday story. In all seriousness, I have found a new author to follow, read, and recommend to my fellow rom-com loving friends. (This is my voluntary and honest review of an advanced copy of Heart Note.)

    Get in the holiday mood!

What a fun little holiday rom-com! I'm not much for Christmas stories (don't hate me) but this was sweet and had a bit more going on than just the romance. And I'm always a sucker for a hot cop! Christos - whew! Such a delicious hunk! If I didn't like Lily so much I'd fight her for him! Both characters are well-written and their romance is believable with just the right amount of tension. The mystery/suspense story line was well-paced and had a few surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book through Shifted Sheets.

    Light-hearted fun read

A light-hearted, funny Christmas read. It was a quick read (about two hours), so if you're in need of a pick-me-up, this one will do just fine.

Air of mystery and some added drama

Lily Lucas is originally from Sydney, Australia, but moved to Melbourne for work. She is a Spritzer (perfume girl), and is the temporary manager of a perfume counter in a big department store. Just before Christmas she has the task of trying to sell the awful new scent ‘Heart Note’. On her first day she meets Christos Cyriakos, the stores new security guard and falls for him, literally. After that first day she can’t take her eyes off him, and it looks like Lily’s luck might just be in. But is Christos really who she thinks he is? Heart Note is a short novella of only 135 pages. I read it in once sitting, and whilst I enjoyed the plot, the gorgeous scenery of a glamorous department store and the interactions between the characters, I did sometimes feel like Cassandra O’Leary had tried too hard to make Lily sound amusing, which in turn often made her seem unrealistic and hyperactive. The book is fast paced, which all novellas should be in my opinion. It has romance running through its core, with an air of mystery and some added drama just to top it off. I loved the ending and I am looking forward to reading book two to see what life has in store for Lily and Christos.

    Love & Holiday Fun

***I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book*** This is the first book that I've read from this particular author but I look forward to reading more from her. The cover of this book really draws the reader to pick it up and read it. The characters she has created are vivid and lively. I always enjoy characters who are full of vim and vigor with a touch of hard-headiness as well as a large dollop of sass. Lily's a sweet girl with lofty dreams who's a newly minted manager at the perfume counter. During this holiday season there is so much going on in the store with tons of frantic shoppers and behind the scene action. Add into this mix a handsome and mysterious head of security named Christos and you have a bustling Christmas season in full swing. Lily and Christos first interaction was very brief but also a very intense moment in an employee trust exercise for the store's new employees. That's the beginning of the dance of love between the two and to heck with store policy. Perfume is Lily's life but needing a paycheck to help provide for her little sister and uncle at home her dreams of her own perfume shop seems so far away. On top of sly glances and little daydreams all the girls ogle Christos but he doesn't see anyone but Lily. She is more than happy to spend some sweaty time with Christos where ever and whenever they can manage it. During the frantic bustle of everyone doing their jobs and dealing with crazy customers there's something going on in the store that has Christos on the prowl. What is going on at the store? Will Christos solve the mystery and bring any bad guys to justice? Are Lily and Christos going to be able to further their romance amidst the chaos that is the store? Every character in the book helps to bring it to life with all the little interactions with the main two characters and each other. This book will have you smiling, sighing, laughing, and melting not only because of the steamy interaction between Lily and Christos but also the sentiments tugging at your heart. This is a quick and easy read although I wish it had been longer so the author could have expanded on a number of things. I wonder if there might not be further books with other characters from this first one. I guess you and I will have to wait and see.
