    Amazing!

Makenna James is rushing to catch the elevator. The weekday is over, it’s Friday; everyone is leaving the building. She almost missed the elevator, but the Good Samaritan who is standing inside, holds the door for her. Just as the elevator starts to go up, everything goes dark, and it stops. The Good Samaritan, Caden Grayson, starts to panic; he is scared of enclosed spaces, of the dark; Makenna starts to laugh hysterically, and thus begins a fantastic story! The extraordinary Laura Kaye has woven a very unusual romance between unlikely people who might not have met otherwise. The setting gives Ms. Kaye to display her tremendous skills, focusing on the scents, sounds, touches. Makenna and Caden truly connect mostly through talking, and the dialogue is spectacular in its simplicity; they share all sorts of stories, get to know each other. HEARTS IN DARKNESS is erotic, passionate, playful, gripping, sensual, extremely innovative, and absolutely fabulous!

Almost dreamlike as you read it

This was a different read, but in a really good way. Almost the entire book takes place in the dark, in an elevator. The imagery that you conjure in your mind adds a wonderful layer to the whole story, almost giving it a dim and shadowy layer. It was hot too!! Seriously sexy, and not just physically, but mentally as well. The conversation, the getting to know each other, not at all distracted by anything physical in appearance. It was short, but there was a lot there. We alternated between Caden's and Makenna's POV and it worked so well I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and I see there are more, but not sure if I want to continue on, or leave it where it is with this couple

    Not in first person

So I'm gonna be honest and say this is in second person in both their vision. Which is something I have trouble with reading, I know I know this way there are probably a lot of books I neglect. But I just have trouble with it. For this one I wanted to set through because the blurb sounded very promising and I already bought book 2.. So this is why I need to wait to buy books until I've opened em and looked if it was in first person pov.. To some it may seem all insta and all, but if you pay close attention it isn't anything like that. Because they actually do get to know each other first before there is talk about attraction. It's a heavy and emotional book! I'm stopping this now because I just got home and I realize it doesn't make me happy, so life is too short too read books not in first person pov (because that makes me not happy). For all those reading this review: If you have no trouble reading in second or third (don't even know the difference that well) I would say go for it! As far as I've read it is really great!

    Hearts in Darkness

I enjoyed Hearts in Darkness, I loved Makenna’s openness and Caden’s vulnerability. Trapped together they learn more about each other in the dark them most do in the light. So much so that by the time they see the light the vulnerabilities and insecure have subsided. I found myself immersed as if I was sitting in the elevator with them. I look forward to reading Love in the Light to see what comes next.
