    Sweet and funny romcom

This was a book that kept me up and I had no idea what time it was. I crashed at 12:50am after reading this straight through! Thank goodness it was Saturday night so I still have Sunday to rest before I have to go back to work tomorrow (BOO!) Penny is going on another Tinder date - which personally, I think of Tinder as a hook-up site not a relationship site but that kinda explains Penny's previous dates. After her boyfriend breaks up with her for not being impulsive enough (read as she was BORING), she's starting back over. She runs into her former childhood friend that she made a marriage pact with, who is also Hollywood star Jax. Jax needs an overhaul to his image, if he wants this super hero role. When he runs into his old friend Penny, it's perfect! He's attracted to her, she's unknown and she knows him from before Hollywood. This was so many things. A romantic comedy, plus Pride and Prejudice thrown in. How could you not want to read this?!

A charming and engaging pager turner!

A heartfelt and humorous hollywood romance! Heartthrob is a sweet, yet savory, romantic comedy that gets you hot and bothered one minute, just to turn you into a gooey puddle of emotions the next. The story follows the journey of THE hollywood heartthrob Jax, and his childhood friend, Penny. Needing to overhaul his "playboy" image to land the role of his dreams, Jax hires Penny to play his doting girlfriend. But when the lines between fiction and reality blur, will these two be able to walk away from their "relationship" with their hearts intact? I'm sure I've said this before, but I'll just say it again: Katie McCoy's books leave me with a perma-smile on my face. Not only is her writing exceptional, but she takes the "fairytale" hollywood romance and puts a unique twist on the storyline. Jax and Penny are remarkable, and quite polar-opposite, characters, and their dynamic and chemistry together sparks off the pages. The sexual tension exuding from their "relationship" builds up, and evokes an anticipation that make readers riddled with impatience...but in a good way. I really enjoyed this book! Highly original and entertaining, with the perfect undertones of humor and insecurities, Heartthrob is a charming and engaging, romantic friends-to-lovers page turner!

    !st Time Reader

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book This is my first book by this author and I LOVED it! It was sorta like taking a vacation in England and I loved Jax and Penny so much. This appears to be #3 in a series, I  felt it easily stands alone as I have never any of the other books in the series. Penny and Jax met when they were 12 years old. They were summer vacation friends even though Jax came from a wealthy family and Penny a poor one. Penny's parents were happily married and Jax's a nightmare, so at 12 Jax proposed because friendship sounded better than love to him for a marriage. The two kids don't see each other until they run into the other at a bar one night. Penny is now in Finance and Jax is a hot movie star. Penny thinks he won't recognize her and he totally does. And they fall into lust.Meanwhile Jax wants this cool movie part but he is told he needs a more wholesome image and thats where he gets the brilliant idea to get a girlfriend named Penny and take her to England with him. Well Penny is more serious person and takes alot of convincing. I loved going on this adventure with Penny and Jax. They both are sweet and fun characters and I loved seeing England thru their eyes. I also loved their friendship and watching them slowly fall for the other. There were some great side characters like Emmy and prince Charlie. While this is called a comedy romance, I didnt laugh a lot but I did really enjoy this fun story.

Rom/com with a lot of depth

This is a fast-paced sweetly funny and at times emotional read. Penny Pollack like numbers and figures, she’s good with them but when it comes to her own, she thinks it needs a little work, so did her ex, that’s why he’s her ex. He went looking elsewhere for sexier figures, leaving poor Penny down in the dumps and searching for love online. Not the best place to find it, for Penny at least. Her latest Tinder venture is just a little bit too hands on. Enter Jax Hawthorne to the rescue. Jax is a Hollywood heartthrob and an old childhood friend of Penny’s. In fact, he made a pact with her, and now that his ‘bad boy’ image needs a make-over he wants Penny to help him change it for the better. Penny’s not so sure she can deals with this hot as hell superstar, but when her work situation takes a turn for the worst, she has no choice and is soon on her way to glorious England. From on set romance to sweet picnics, with the added bovine extra, road trips and obnoxious parents, this story will leave you with a smile on your face.
