  • Opposites Attract

I enjoyed reading Heating Up Paradise by Lizbeth Selvig, book five in her Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys series. It is a wonderful, sweet story that focuses on Kelly Crockett, one of the triplets, and Damien Finney, their friendship, chemistry, and magnetic attraction. These two opposites are definitely attracted to each other. After a fire temporarily closes their coffee and sandwich shop, Kelly returns home to the immense and gorgeous Paradise Ranch. When her sister Grace loses another cook, Kelly, a trained chef, helps out, finding a renewed love for creating new dishes and thinking about her future dreams of owning a Michelin-level restaurant. After three years as a firefighter, two tours in Afghanistan, and a year in PTSD therapy, Damien is ready to start the next chapter of his life; a spot on an elite smoke jumper crew. When a jump goes sour, Damien finds himself seeking solace at Paradise Ranch where he previously spent time in a program that paired veterans with wild mustangs. With his smoke-jumping career in danger of ending before it begins, he is hopeful that while he is at the ranch and with the horses he can find a cure to save his future. Being a quiet introvert, Damien is overwhelmed with Kelly’s bubbly-extroverted personality; needing some quiet time to gather his thoughts. Kelly knows that something happened to make Damien wary but until he is ready to open up to her she will need to trust him. When Damien helps Kelly out in the kitchen, he becomes a practical joker, an amazing sous-chef, and a decent cook from the time he cooked at the fire station. Kelly finds her plans causing trouble in Paradise with her sisters and Damien’s past haunts him. When wildfires threaten the land they both love, each needs to decide if there is enough heat for them to build a new future or tear them apart. But, first they need to that buried deep down beneath the dreams they hoped for is what they truly need; one that is theirs together. Ms. Selvig wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with off the charts, sizzling chemistry, magnetism, wonderful dialogue, and charming characters giving Kelly and Damien a chance to discover they were meant to be together and find their path to the future. I highly recommend Heating Up Paradise to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

  • Heartwarming romance

I feel like I’ve been waiting a while to return to the Crockett sisters and Paradise Ranch Wyoming—Damien and Kelly’s story was worth the wait! Kelly and Damien lit up every scene with their banter, their growing feelings, the sparks that flew; but they were each at a crossroads, trying to figure out their futures while healing from the past. There is action and mystery in this story, along with the ever-growing Crockett family, but Damien and Kelly are without a doubt the stars and the heart of the story! • I love this series!

I loved going back to this family and their story! Ms. Selvig has such a way of finding the right mate for her characters that the progression of their relationship feels like it just has to be. I absolutely loved the part that animals played in this book. The horses were phenomenal alone in the ability to heal Damien and his PTSD, but then the dogs tossed into the mixture just made the story even more touching. I strongly believe in the powers of animals to help calm the human spirit, so this was right up my alley. Damien was also right up my alley. In him, Selvig gave us a hero that was crying out for help in his own way. He may have been resistant to help at first, but deep down he knew he needed it. He finds that healing power in Kelly, his horse and the very dogs that he is reluctant to let close to him. I loved his relationship with Kelly--his restraint when he thought it was needed, his ability to finally loosen up in the kitchen and his eventual giving in to loving her. Kelly was a very strong woman who thought she knew what she wanted, loved her family unconditionally and certainly went after Damien. Great character! I was given a complimentary copy of this book via Booksprout. All thoughts are my own. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Heat up your nights with this one!

Fans of Lizbeth Selvig already know this one is well worth the time, money and library space! But if you are new to Ms. Selvig you are in for a treat! The writing is excellent. The setting is well paradise. Especially if you love small town romances. The characters are realistic and engaging. The story itself keeps you engaged and turning pages. I found myself unable to put this one down. Ms. Selvig handles some touchy subjects with grace and understanding. Fans of great romances that will leave you smiling and sighing are going to want to add HEATING UP PARADISE to their "to buy" list. Just be warned if you are new to Ms. Selvig you'll be getting all of her backlist after reading this one. BTW this is part of a series but I felt you could read it as a stand alone and not be too lost. You will want to read the previous titles. But hey that's not a bad thing! So go grab this one NOW!! You'll be glad you did!!!! Highly recommended!
