  • I loved it!

I really loved the resilience of the main character. I am, however, not happy that we didn't learn what her superpower is. Perhaps it's being very likeable.

  • Brilliant

Oh, how I loved this book. It scratched so many itches I didn't even realise I had. The second I saw the cover and read the premise, I was sold; a fresh take on the superhero genre, with potential disability rep? Sign me up! While it took me a few chapters to fully get into the right perspective of where the main character was coming from, I was fully captivated by this story the entire way through. Every time I thought I couldn't enjoy myself more, something new would come and knock me off my feet.

  • Hilarious

Really super enjoyed this take on the superhero genre and what I think are sly shots at the silly seriousness of it. Well written and immensely adorable prime character. Glad to see a local getting published.

  • A Fun Escape

I read this book for my Book Club. We chose this one to discuss at our meeting, from the five books chosen for this year’s Canada Reads showdown. The main character of this book is Anna Tromedlov, a numbers expert who goes from job to job with villains through temp agencies. At one of these jobs, she is injured by a superhero. During her recovery, she crunches the numbers to calculate the amount of damage doe to property and loss of lives done by superheroes in the execution of good deeds. This brings her to the attention of a super villain. He uses her skills to help bring down his arch nemesis. This book read like a comic book. That is what struck me at first. Seeing as how it is inspired by the world of comic book super heroes. This made the book a bit of escapism. The one theme that caught my attention was when the main character wanted to hold the heroes accountable. This is like the citizen committees that oversee police forces. The good guys do damage in pursuit of their law enforcement. Anna noticed that this damage was overlooked. Even when lives were lost. I felt the author was pushing the idea that even the good guys need to be watched. I enjoyed the book. This book is not for everyone. I do not think it will win Canada Reads, because no one will take it seriously, If you like comic books or science fiction, you may enjoy the book
