    Amazing

    I. LOVED. This. Book!! I'm not even sure why I love it so much. But, isn't that the sign of a great story. It just made me happy and stays with me. Yes, there is great writing and Payton and Cruz were incredible characters yet it was the entirety of the book that sucked me in and had me glued to the pages with a silly smile on my face. This one has an unexpected road trip, a little white lie, and a whole lot of tequila! Always a combination for disaster. In the case of Payton and Cruz, it may be the best worst thing that ever happened to them!! This is one I definitely recommend.

sweet and delightful opposites attract romance!

This sweet opposites attract romance is the story of Cruz and Payton. En route to Cruz's brother Dominic's (and Payton's best friend Kate's) Puerto Vallarta wedding , they end up stranded at the airport with no flights heading to their destination. Despite their mutual dislike of each other (from a previous meeting where Cruz's assumptions of Payton as a spoiled socialite colored their first meeting when she overheard him speaking ill of her), the only way to get to the wedding on time is to rent a car and travel together. Having just discovered that her fiance is cheating on her and breaking off the engagement, sitting in a car for hours on end with her nemesis is definitely not her idea of a good time, but Payton will do anything to get to her friend's wedding on time. Something happens along the way though, and when a little too much tequila and sexual tension results in a case of 'we did what?!' , Payton and Cruz find themselves married before they even get to the wedding they are supposed to attend! Dissolving their unintended union should be easy, but disentangling their emotions and hearts might prove to be a little more complicated - will they figure out what they really want before it's too late? I don't often read sweet romances (ones with closed door bedroom scenes) but there are a few authors I make exceptions for, and Ashlee Mallory is one of them. I thoroughly enjoyed Dominic and Kate's story in Her Backup Boyfriend, where both Payton and Cruz were introduced and I was hoping I would find this one as interesting. Lucky for me, it held up just as well as the first one in the series. Cruz is a serious, solid guy, a businessman who is working hard to provide for his family by ensuring that their small construction company gets some good solid contracts. All he does is work, and now being stuck with Payton, a woman who he was initially attracted to when they met anonymously in a flower shop but whose subsequent meeting went all sorts of downhill when he found out who she really was (affianced, and a high society type) is putting a damper on his current negotiation - not the least of which is because it's her former potential father-in-law whose business he's trying to align with. This makes for all sorts of added complications for Cruz. And most assuredly, his attraction to her despite everything is inconvenient and annoying. Payton is a young woman who for her whole life has tried to live up to the expectations of her mother - a controlling woman who has influenced all of Payton's decisions, including putting off going to law school when her grandmother died and she was forced into helping out with all the society functions her family was involved with. Her life seemed to be planned out for her, including marrying a man from a good family who she was friends with and would be compatible as a partner. Discovering his infidelity throws Payton into disarray - her whole future that had been mapped out for her can be changed, and the first step is to get out from under her mother's thumb. I really liked Payton, and her realization that with her own marriage plans gone, her future could include anything that she wanted. When Cruz realizes how wrong he's been about Payton, that she isn't just a mindless society girl, his opinion of her changes, and along with it his unwanted attraction to her suddenly isn't so unwanted anymore. There is a great deal of sexual tension between them, and it's no surprise really that when they end up stranded in Mexico waiting for a car repair, a little too much tequila and a partying group of square dancers (and that was a hoot!) lead them down the path to a wedding - their own, and one Payton doesn't really remember much of in the morning (unlike Cruz, who is quite aware of what's happened including that he could have said no to Payton's impromptu proposal and didn't). There are lots of laughs in the story despite some more serious scenes, and the banter between Cruz and Payton as they travel made for a delightful read. But I really liked that Payton wasn't willing to compromise on what she would need from Cruz in order to move forward in their relationship - wedded or not. Cruz's business might be important to him, but she's not willing to be second choice anymore, something she's lived with her whole life, and she makes that clear to him. So it's not all sunshine and roses to get to their happy ending, but one where serious decisions must be made about what will ensure a bright and loving future for them. It was a thoroughly entertaining story, with lots of laughs and a sweet romance. 4.5 stars.

A wonderful enemies to lovers romance.

Rating: 4.5 Stars Her Accidental Husband, the second book in the Sorensen Family series is a standalone read. It brings together Cruz Sorensen and Paige Vaughn, who have a love-hate relationship. The two initially met in the first book, Her Backup Boyfriend, when Cruz unknowingly insulted Payton, resulting in her hitting him in the head with a vase. Now, the two are thrown together when they are forced to travel together from Texas to Puerto Vallarta via car to attend the wedding of Cruz’s brother Dominic and Payton’s best friend Kate. Cruz is a workaholic who is driven to make his father and family proud. He wants to put Sorensen Construction, started by his father, on the national map. He’s thoughtful and meticulous, and isn’t one for fun and games. After having his seventeen-year-old heart crushed when a girl left him for a guy with more money, he’s not big on relationships. Payton, as an only child, grew up rich and privileged. While she functions just fine in that world, she’s probably more comfortable with regular everyday people. Payton is something of a free-spirit. She’s fun, energetic, and outgoing. Up until this point in her life, she has allowed her society driven mother to push her to do what she’s wanted her to do. Be it going to the right college, dating and becoming engaged to the right guy, becoming part of the right charitable endeavors or whatever to make the Vaughns look good. Payton is just weeks away from her wedding when she makes a horrible discovery. As if her day couldn’t get any worse, Payton finds herself on the same plane headed to Puerto Vallarta as Cruz. Hours into the flight, the plane has an emergency, forcing it to land in Laredo, Texas, with no flights to Mexico. Cruz who promised Kate and Dom he would look after Payton, convinces her to agree to drive with him south. Over the course of their two and a half day trip, the two make surprising discoveries about each other. Cruz learns that Payton isn’t as bad as he thought she was and Payton realizes it’s even more fun to poke Cruz than she thought. They also realize their attraction to one another. Payton’s fun and games become more than she bargained for when she tells people she and Cruz are planning to get married in Mexico. When a fake engagement becomes a real marriage, the two have to decide what they really want. Immediately, picking up Her Accidental Husband reminded me why I was so excited to discover Ashlee Mallory earlier this year. My reading enjoyment continued and I was smiling throughout the book. I was even able to deal with Payton's snobby, holier than thou mother. I definitely wasn't expecting a character surprise. Even then, I could work with things. The book was simply fantastic and I found myself ranking Ashlee up there with one of my favorite authors. My issue with the story is that I felt like it dragged out just a little too long. The constant misunderstandings and timing of Cruz and Payton close to the end took away from the book for me. I get there has to be conflict in romance but I just wish I could knock some sense into Cruz. Even with my frustration with single minded Cruz, I still loved this story. I love that Payton discovered her self worth and what she wanted out of life. I love that Cruz discovered that he needed more out of life than just his rabid determination to be successful in business. Cruz has two sisters who are in need of finding their own happy ever after stories. I can’t wait to see what Ashlee has in store for them. **Received a copy from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest unbiased review.**

    Opposites Attract!

An epic road trip through Mexico, ends up with tequila and a wedding makes for fun read. Payton and Cruz are opposites. Payton, a spoiled socialite, just found her fiance cheating. Cruz is a work alcoholic, and does have time for romance. They are both heading down to Puerto Vallarta for a wedding. With a few speed bumps on the way, they find themselves as man and wife. Payton's mother is a number class snob otherwise known as the dragon!, and does not approve, Ex fiance shows up and tries to change Payton's mind. Now Cruz has to prove, is he worthy of her love. I loved this fun sweet romance!! This book will leave you smiling well after you are done reading. Loved the chemistry and banter between Payton and Cruz. I am thinking that, Cruz has a few more siblings that will need HEA!! I received this book from netgalley for an honest review. I highly recommend this story to all romance readers.

Humor and sweet romance in one fun package

Payton Vaughn finds herself on the same flight to her best friend's destination wedding in Mexico as Cruz Sorenson, the brother of the groom and the bane of her existence. As if that wasn't bad enough, she discovers just before boarding her flight that the 'pressing business meeting' her own fiancé skipped the wedding trip for was anything but business. The cherry on top of all this however is the mechanical malfunction of their plane that results in a road trip across Mexico with none other than Cruz, which may not be such a bad thing after all because she gets a chance to see a different side of Cruz as he goes from the uptight, reserved and taciturn businessman to someone enjoying the adventure of their trip. Cruz has always thought of Payton as a self-centered and high maintenance rich girl, an opinion which may be colored slightly by his own experiences with some of the country club set and the prejudices he faced both growing up as a half-Mexican and while building their construction company. Payton is actually hiding a smart, accomplished and ambitious person under her fun and bubbly personality and Cruz can't resist the pull between them. Too bad that he has a lot on the line and getting involved with Payton is a sure way of destroying everything he's worked so hard for and is on the verge of achieving. But driving through the beautiful countryside in the company of an attractive woman and indulging in some shots of tequila lead to some ill-advised choices and some funny moments. Payton clearly sees Cruz for the workaholic he is and he initially came off as proud and obsessed with success, with a chip on his shoulder about wealthy people, but as the story went on, I saw that his reason for working so hard was because he wanted to make sure that his family was taken care of and earn his father's approval. Payton has pretty much let her mom run her life instead of standing up for herself but I love that she took back the reins, starting with kicking her fiancé to the curb, refusing to settle for less than she deserved and choosing to follow her dreams. I had a lot of fun reading HER ACCIDENTAL HUSBAND because it was just that enjoyable. It has humor, adventure and romance but it was also sweet. I love Payton and her vivacious personality and I laughed so hard at her lack of a filter, especially the movie reference at the beginning of their trip. My only minor issue was the lack of communication and misunderstandings between them but I enjoyed all of it and I'll definitely recommend HER ACCIDENTAL HUSBAND.
