    Fun Read

Well, the first thing I have to say about this one is that Craig is an a-hole. A big one. You're set up to dislike him, and it just keeps getting worse. He treats our star, Amelia, like she's five years old and needs to be taken care of in every way, incapable of making her own decision. But, Amelia isn't having any of it. In fact, she's determined to get a boyfriend and have an amazing date. But of course we have complications. That complication comes in the form of her brother's best friend, Lucas. Who also happens to be the man she's had a crush on her entire life. Thins sort of steamroll on Amelia, and I continue to wonder if her brother had anything to do with it. It seems like she just can't catch a break - it's actually a little too much. Instead of waiting for her and Lucas to get together, I started wondering what was going to wrong next. The ending was quite abrupt. It seemed like it hit an HEA brick wall and suddenly it was over. I prefer to see a little bit more of a wind down, myself. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

    fighting for her dreams

This is a heartwarming story of two people with dreams and how they forged ahead to see those plans happen despite others and circumstances. The characters are solid and completely relatable to. The secondary characters are wonderful. Lia is old enough to know what she wants to do with her life and what she doesn’t want. What she doesn’t want is to live in the city as her brother wants her to. Her dreams include her art, running the family farm and Lucas. Her art is her passion and her feelings bleed into the canvas giving her a gift that is exceptional. She wants more than anything to paint and run the farm while married to Lucas, her brother’s best friend. She has been in love with Lucas since a teen but unfortunately he has hurt her more than once leaving her to believe there is nothing but friendship between them. Lia’s brother, Craig, knows what kind of talent she has and wants her to pursue it to her fullest…..which to him means in the city and away from the farm he no longer wants. As older brothers are, Craig acts as if Lia is still too young to know anything and must direct her path in everything including what she is to do, where she will live and who she can marry. He means well out of love but truly doesn’t understand. When he forces Lia’s hand with selling the farm and giving her a time line, he pushes Lia too far. In fact, this move doesn’t set to well with a lot of people including Lucas. Lucas is a farmer through and through. He can’t seem to reconcile himself to being a farmer without a farm after his parents lost theirs. Trying to hold on to the farm house and 10 acres left for his sister, he begins a combining business which leaves him close to home and able to keep an eye on Lia for Craig. Doing Craig’s dirty work takes a toll on Lucas and he finally has had enough when Craig tries to force Lia to move back to the city and give up the farm. Lucas decides it is time to stop Craig and help Lia…there is just one small problem. Lucas is in love with Lia and knows two things…first Craig will not approve and second he has hurt Lia too many times to hope she will love him back. When push comes to shove, where will Lucas stand- with Lia or Craig? And what will Lia do? Will Craig win and control his sister’s life? A great story about fighting for your dreams and standing up for what you believe. The characters are ones that you can get caught up in and cheer them on. Lia’s story is book 1 of the series with her brother, Craig’s being book 2. A really good choice for a short story with wonderful moments to keep you going.
