  • Great Debut

I enjoyed this fast paced novel. At the beginning, I didn't like the MC Isla - but I carried on reading as it was engaging - and I'm so glad I did. A great twist!

  • Gripping!

Is Isla being stalked by her erstwhile attacker (who might or might not still be in jail) or is she just going mad? Or has he got someone on the outside? Brittany writes a powerful story, with excellent characterisation and a gripping plot. Tackling such topics as stalking, abuse, and manipulation are challenging, but her main character's mindset and inner voice are 100% convincing. I had to keep turning the pages – I couldn't guess the ending, and I had to know! 5*

  • good debut

Isla has escaped a serial killer and has found her soulmate in Jack. She has learned to live with what has happened to her in Australia and her life is going fairly well. Meeting an old class mate from university brings not only good memories back. Liked the cover, liked the suspense and the story kept me interested throughout the whole book. Seeing as this is a debut novel I will keep this authors name in mind and definitely read the next book. I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and HQ Digital!

  • Interesting plot, but...

I’m rating 3 stars because the writing was not bad and it really kept engaged from the beginning. Even though I disliked the main character, it was hard to put this book down. But I do not consider it a thriller but a drama. Not once I sympathized with the protagonist, not even after the true was explained. The plot was interesting with some unexpected twists, but there are lots of things that sounded a bit absurd. The ending was very rushed (or felt rushed) and unbelievable. This book have all the right ingredients that, if in the hands of an experienced writer, could become a great book. I won’t be surprised if someone decides to make a movie adaptation (if Ruth Ware did it - at least 2! - why not Amanda Brittany?).

  • Not Great

The writing was not great, the main character was annoying and I didn't like her. It was predictable and I figured out what was going to happen before I read it. There is a pretty good idea here but it was not thought out or executed well in my opinion.
