    Interesting Romance

3.5/5 stars I received a copy of Here to Stay through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Here to Stay is set in Texas with two New Yorker implants, Julia and Rocco. Julia is in charge of running an after school program that helps many kids and their families and Rocco is the consultant helping the programs parent company decide what needs to be cut in turning the company into an IPO. The romance between the two is slow burning, but in the end everything comes together for them. Here to Stay was a good read and a well written romance. The romance itself was very slow burning and it took me a while to get into it, but by the end I was really happy with how everything came together. I couldn’t really connect with either Julia or Rocco and their in your face New Yorker ways, but they do make a good couple. I found this romance to be you average romance, neither the best or the worst romance I’ve read. If you like slow burning romances it’s worth giving it a try.

    Finding Your Home

3.5 stars This was an entertaining work place/taboo slow burn romance. I really loved how the author showcased families - those made by blood and those that we find/choose. All the characters were likeable and my heart hurt for Rocco and Julia at different times in the book. I wanted to give Rocco a big hug so many times. The secondary characters were equally wonderful (Julia's family! The twins! Jose!) and added so much humor and fun to the story. There was a lot of push and pull in this one and unfortunately, it just felt too drawn out, especially when a bit of OW drama was thrown into the mix. I was rooting for Rocco and Julia to find their HEA, but their inability to speak openly and communicate their feelings to each other got old pretty quickly. There was a lot of instalust from the start, but I still consider this a slow burn since it took our characters time to sort themselves out. Once things were sorted though, there were some very, very steamy and sexy times. I am a big fan of the dirty talking boy scout hero ;) I just wish Julia and Rocco had been as open and honest with each other outside of the bedroom as they were inside. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and look forward to reading more of her books. *I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*

Friend, Family, Food and Steaming Hot love story

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. Here to Stay by Adriana Herrera is a stand-alone novel, but I’m hoping that it will become a series, and we will get to hear more about the other members of the Gotham Exiles Club. Julia del Mar Ortiz moved to Dallas to be with her boyfriend; however, that didn’t work out, and now she’s there alone, and so she creates the Gotham Exiles Club, a social group for former New Yorkers who are also trying to find their way in Dallas. She wants to put down roots in Dallas because she has a job that she loves and finds fulfilling as the program director for the Sturm Foundation, which runs programs for immigrant and refugee children and their families. Unfortunately the parent company Sturm’s a fashion empire is about to go public and Rocco Quinn also a New Yorker, the team leader of the consulting company hired to manage the IPO has been directed by one of the partners and the CFO of Sturm’s to eliminate the programs to make the company look more saleable. Both Julia and Rocco struggle with the intense chemistry they feel for each other in an enemies to lovers romance, and even thought it seems impossible you have to cheer for them to find a way to make it work. There are so many things to enjoy about this book red hot chemistry, strong friendships, families, amazing food that will make you very hungry and of course the love story at the heart. I highly recommend reading this book. Steam Level: Whoa it’s hot in here. Witty Rom-Com

I had not read anything from Adriana Herrera but have heard a lot about her so was excited to give this book a read. Here to Stay is the story of Julia and Rocco. Julia is a NYC transplant working in Dallas with a non-profit foundation. Rocco, also from NYC, is temporarily in Dallas to analyze and review the company that funds Julia's non-profit. The two are instantly attracted but do their very best to keep things professional as their jobs are so closely intertwined and Rocco doing his could result in Julia losing hers. I enjoyed this book. The dialogue was funny and I loved the friends that come together in Dallas. Julia's Dominican family was endearing. There are some triggers with abuse in Rocco's family. I did learn that I prefer an Alpha hero to Rocco's super soft tendencies but that is just personal preference. While this book was a bit slow at times it kept me entertained and is one that I would overall recommend to someone who is looking for a witty rom-com.
