It's hard to believe this is Lori Ann Bailey's debut novel. It's not hard to believe that she is a winner of the National Reader's Choice Award and Holt Medallion for Best First Book and Best Historical. I`m writing this review having just finished reading Highland Deception for the 4th or 5th time. The book is engaging and satisfying from the beginning to the end, even knowing every turn and twist of the plot and the [SPOILER ALERT] happy happy ever after! (I suppose the Spoiler Alert wasn't really necessary!) ;-) Highland Deception is set in 1642. The politics of the Coventor period of Scotland's history are an important part of the storyline without overwhelming the romance. I particularly like the way this first-in- series-book prepares the reader for both the new romance and the further development of the politics of the period. A mistrusting hero who makes significant mistakes, but is willing to sincerely apologize. A strong straightforward heroine hiding from evil. Some hot and sexy love scenes! I very highly recommend this book for lovers of historical romance. More than that, I recommend the entire series. I adore the characters and the romance of it all!

  • Run to be a Nun

Maggie rides off to escape a monstrous marriage. She would rather be in a convent. She uses her healing ways to save a life and is swept off with the Camerons. It is a well paced tale of love and intrigue
