    Emotional and Exciting

One of the best trilogies. I enjoyed this novel and the next two that followed. Lyra is a character you connect with, and from the start you feel her humanity.... it punches your heart though. :(

I love this book, it couldn't get any better! It hooks you on and never lets go. Philip Pullman is a genius!

    I read like halfway...

I read like halfway through this book and then stopped I just honestly, didn't really want to continue. From what I read, (don't take this review too seriously because I only read the first half, maybe the second half is super good.) The plot, I felt, was just really transparent to the point where I could predict almost every single thing that was going to happen. For example: "The master who decided to poisin Lyra's uncle sent Lyra off to this really nice, supposdley smart person to get her education, who doesn't seem like they have any flaws." PRETTY SUSPICIOUS HUH?! We, the readers, knew the teacher was smart and Lyra was smart. So wouldn't the supposdley "smart teacher" try and act more "normal" instead of weirdly nice so it was like well, she has all these faults, so she can't really get worse and then a plot twist, right there. I think that would be more of a: "whoa!" plot twist. Although I did think Phillip Pullman created a really interesting world with wonderful creatures, the plot and storyline just didn't compare.
