  • "Simply "ditto" efforts"

I am reading the third book in this series. I am giving it three stars because the series is a template. The first book is creative writing. Those following are simply "ditto" efforts. It is tiresome after a while.

  • An endearing grumpy/sunshine pairing!

Charlotte is a true introvert, a person who thrives on her own and has to keep her social life small and in short doses. Mike comes across as all sunshine and roses, but we soon learn there are reasons for his cultivated persona. I really loved the way the author built these two characters and their emotional connection to show that they are so perfectly in tune with each other, even when they have such disparate personalities. This story drew me in right away, and I really enjoyed Charlotte's lovable grouchy exterior and thought she was a perfect character for 2020. Mike was the ideal boyfriend for her, someone who can accept her exactly as she is yet also nudge her into trying new things once in a while. The emotional security they each gave the other formed a wonderfully stable foundation for their romance, and their HEA was everything I was hoping for. This book cleverly weaves in the other characters from previous and future books, showing how the friendships will interconnect all the stories in this series. And just like the previous book, there's an abundance of foodie references to drool over as well. If you like to read about romances set in Toronto, you need to one-click everything by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
