    Passionate and romantic

Hold On Tight by J. Kenner is book #2 in the Man of the Month series. In order to save their local bar the owners of The Fix are doing a man of the month competition and a bar renovation reality tv show. Spencer Dean has lost a lot in his life, his brother to jail, and the woman of his dreams on their wedding day. Most recently he was scammed out of his money. He has one more renovation on his reality tv contract and renovating The Fix will get him past that and on to a show renovating a mansion he has always wanted. The only problem, Brooke Hamlin, the woman who left him at the alter is who he will be working with. Will that be a deal killer, or an opportunity for retribution. Brooke has been trying to get out from under her family's thumb and having her own renovation business, highlighted in a reality tv show to revitalize The Fix is perfect. Spencer's involvement is gut wrenching. Leaving him 5 years before was a choice that was forced on her, but what will Spencer do with her? To her? Her need to get her business off the ground is first and foremost and Spencer is a wild card in her plans. I liked the use of locations and atmospheres that were both in flashbacks to Brooke and Spencer's past as well as the present day. Their history is passionate and the family details from both are driving forces for the situations they have been in. The dynamic between them in undeniable and I liked that it was not needlessly torturous. Yes there was a sense of past hanging over them, but the positive side of their history and love was not dampened. I enjoyed the development of the overall story arc as well as specific plot in this book. Spencer and Brooke are the driving forces amid a torrent of various eddies. Overall I enjoyed Hold On Tight by J. Kenner and Brooke and Spencer's characters. This was a passionate, fun and fulfilling book. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)

    Fun and Sexy

Spencer Dean and Brooke Hamlin have a past and now it appears they are going to be forced to have a future working together. Brooke walked away on their wedding day five years ago and now what starts out as revenge on Spencer's part turns to a second chance and the sparks are still there. All of the feels of true love are still there after being apart and the chemistry cannot be denied or extinguished with time. This series is just pure fun and sexy! Definitely a great time read! **Received this ARC for review**

    Emotion-packed!

This is one emotion-packed book! I really felt for both Brooke and Spencer and the difficult situation they find themselves in. They used to be engaged, until Brooke left Spencer at the altar. They had great chemistry and the tension of their past really added another emotional level to their relationship. Spencer Dean has become a household name, starring in a popular house-flipping program. He is retired from television, but the producers want him to do a final show with a co-star, centering on the remodeling of the bar where the Man of the Month contest will take place. The network has paired him with a remodeling expert, who happens to be his former fiancée, Brooke Hamlin. Spencer was an amazing leading man, his struggle to be there for Brooke despite his hurt and anger showed his character. I loved that even though Brooke had wounded him horribly, he didn’t hate her. Time and again, he proved to Brooke that he was a decent man. Watching his struggle and his determination to remain strong against the pull of his love for her was powerful! Brooke has been forced to make a terrible decision that has cost her her chance at happiness. Seeing Spencer opens old wounds but she is prepared to give in to him. You really get a sense of how much these two mean to each other. I liked how things progressed, how they really had to work things out and learn to trust one another again. I rooted for them and I liked seeing them struggle, grow and heal. They definitely deserved their HEA. This book was a great addition to the Man of the Month series!

Great continuation of the man of the month contest

Another type of show I don’t really watch are the home improvement shows or the DIY shows. I’m just not crafty and those shows just point it out more to me. However, this story is about a home improvement show but it’s one I actually like since the TV show is more in the background. Spencer and Brooke were about to get married – like almost walking down the aisle – when Brooke leaves Spencer. She doesn’t say anything, just takes off. That was 5 years ago. Spencer is still hurt and Brooke is still broken-hearted, even though she’s the one who walked away. Fast forward 5 years, Spence is trying to buy this mansion he’s always loved but it’s a huge undertaking to get it renovated. So a deal is made and Spence now has to work on renovating a bar in town with none other than his ex-fiancée as the Project Manager. That’s just the bare bones of the story. There’s SO much more that happens and twists and turns plus the Man of the Month contest.

Second chance romance, can it succeed?

This is a story of second chances. Brooke makes the hardest sacrifice on her wedding day (leaving Spencer (the love of her life) on their wedding day. Spencer was devastated when Brooke left him. Believing she left because he wasn’t good enough for her. Now they are both brought together in a reality show, can they find their way back? Even if they do, with the force which tore them apart do it again? J. Kenner has again brings you along for the journey. A journey you do not want to miss! Cannot wait for March!
