  • Held me Hostage

Having not read Prisoner, I didn't know what to expect of Hostage. I had no idea that it would pull me in so quickly and not let me go. I really loved Stone even though he was so broken, but I think it was Brook that really pulled me in. We know Stone is broken, we expect all manner of depraved things from him, but Brook was broken too. She was so far from the bell of the ball that she was expected to be and I think it put her in the perfect frame of mind to deal with everything that Stone threw at her. Now I need to go read Prisoner! #MSBB

  • 5 OMG STARS!!

5 OMG STARS!! OMG, I was on the edge of my seat holding on for dear life. This story has it all from dark, angst, suspense, love and sexy times. I absolutely loved Stone and Brooke's story, I could not get enough of these two. This book held my captive all the way through. I would love to be Stone's Hostage. These two authors did a phenomenal job with this story and I can't wait to read more. If you are looking for a dark exciting book look no further. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

  • captivates the reader

4.5 stars Hostage is nothing and everything you would expect from these two talented and twisted authors. To say I'm biased might be true but only because I've devoured their books. I have yet to read one that didn't have me highly entertained or on the edge of my seat. Maybe I'm biased because I like the damaged bad boys. Maybe it's because I look for light in the darkness. Maybe it's because I'm a hopeless romantic... Whatever the reason, I loved Hostage. I love the fear, the desperation, and of course the vigilante justice. There are few things in this world that get my blood thirst active...but people that harm kids is my number one. Do I condone certain behaviors...no...but do I understand- Hell yes! Would I have reacted the same...this isn't the time to share my story. ;) Hostage is a dark trail that runs along side a blackened highway. It's not quite as dark as you might think but it isn't exactly fluffy unicorns. It's intense. It's raw and it's exactly what you needed to happen. Hostage is second in the series but you can read it first like I did with no problems following at all. You will scramble to read Prisoner though if you haven't already.

  • Full of heat and longing!

Wild, sexy, and sympathetic! These words describe the main characters, as well as their love. Stone Keaton is a monster. If you knew the things he has done, you would agree. He is driven by vengeance and pain. Stone and his “blood brothers” were monsters forged as children trapped in basement for years on end, made to endure unspeakable things by evil men. And Stone, the eldest, is the biggest, baddest monster of them all; the one with the most to prove. The one most determined to lash back at those evil men wearing respectable faces, while shielding his brothers from the dark. When Stone encounters Brooke Carson in an unexpected turn of events, it as if a tiny light flickers inside his darkness. He develops an obsession with her that is as beautifully poignant as it is creepy. He is curious about her innocence, her naïveté. He wants to own her but he also wants to protect her from himself. He needs someone to see him, not with fear and disgust, as we would, but with wonder as Brooke does. She is completely outside of his mission of revenge but he can’t forget about her. Brooke is the only child of one of the elite families in Franklin City. She sees in Stone, not a repulsive killer, but someone who is strong and free. She’s not delusional. Her insight and maturity are remarkable; her affection for her stalker believable. Their romance is so intoxicating and palpable, and proof that you don’t need loads of sex scenes in order to create smoking hotness.  Despite their long periods of separation, you can feel these two burning for each other every time they are apart. In Hostage (and its companion Prisoner) Annika and Skye have combined to create complex, compassionate antiheroes who have the appeal of justifiable wildness, danger, and ruthlessness. The romance is smoulderingly sexy and the writing is thoughtfully sophisticated. I enjoyed every minute of it! (I have received an ARC for this book but my opinion is sincerely and voluntarily given.)
