    Loved it

Loved this story! It's the second in a series but you can easily read this one and enjoy it without having read the first. Marco Solis is a former Navy SEAL who now owns a Tequila bar along with his two buddies. Marco is strong, determined, and sexy but underneath it all he deals with insecurities every day. Never letting himself get to close to many people fearing they will leave too. His parents where deported when he was a young teen and his fiancee couldn't wait for him to return from deployment before moving on so why should he trust anyone will stick around. Then Carrie Garner starts hanging around his bar more frequently and he want her to stick around more than anything but he knows she has plans to leave at the end of the summer. Can he just enjoy her for the amount of time they have or will his heart be hurt again? This is a very well done story and one I would recommend to everyone.

    Loved these two.

Marco and Carrie just can't seem to get along, but for the sake of their best friends attempt to be civil while they plan an engagement party for them. The close proximity forces them to view the other in a different light and learn to see what is under those carefully laid layers. Coincidently they have a lot more in common than they realize. Of course, their mutual attraction is off the charts and giving in is easier than resisting. What they didn't plan for is falling for each other. It was just supposed to be a fun "romp". But Carrie has dreams that she needs to fulfill and in spite of Marco's belief that everyone leaves him, he decides to get out of her way so that she can achieve her dreams, leaving both of them broken-hearted. A story of friendship, love and forgiveness.

**Advanced copy provided by the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review** Hot Shot is the second book in Kelly Jamieson's Last Shot series and it was a great one! While this book can be read as a standalone, I think you connect more to the characters having read the first book in the series since the main characters, and the principle supporting characters were all in Body Shot. Marco Solis is one of the three former Navy SEALs that owns Conquistador, a hip tequila bar. Unfortunately for Marco, all he's ever known in his life when it comes to relationships is that they end in loss. His parents were deported when he was fourteen and he and his sister were both put into foster care with her being adopted and him losing touch with her. Couple that with his ex-fiancee marrying someone else while he was deployed and it leaves little room for warm fuzzy feelings where relationships are concerned. Carries Garner is a model who has always had a bit of a quirky side. She loves photography and while both her modeling and her photography provide a living for her, it's never lived up to what she feels her family expects from her. In order to continue pursuing her passion for photography, she is heading to Spain on a photography grant. When Marco and Carrie come together to plan an engagement party for their friends Beck and Hayden, will these two people that seemingly can't get along figure out that maybe they have more in common than they realize? Will they figure out that outward appearances might not really tell the story about what is happening in someone else's life? This was a great story about friendship, love, forgiveness and acceptance. Relationships are hard and I felt like Kelly Jamieson did a fantastic job weaving a story that navigated the landscapes of many different relationships and how each person's perspective can reflect differently upon them. I would highly recommend this book and I can't wait for the third one in the series to come out!

    Terrific frenemy to lovers romance!

This is the second book in this series and I have anxiously been awaiting this one since Last Shot. Carrie and Marco met the night her best friend Hayden met Marco’s friend and business partner Beck. Sparks flew for Hayden and Beck, but Carrie and Marco didn’t hit it off. Carrie felt that Marco was a player and was always trying to hit on her and she felt like he wasn’t genuine. Marco was taken with Carrie but he felt she was out of his league and wouldn’t give him a chance. This is a story of frenemies to lovers. Carrie and Marco are working together as they are involved in the wedding of their best friends and have to plan an engagement party. As they are working together they both discover that they really didn’t know the person and guards are let down. The chemistry between these two is always simmering until it boils over and they can’t fight the pull. There is quite a few laugh out loud crazy times with Carrie’s wonderful flamboyant grandmother and the rest of the secondary characters. There is some very touching heart to heart talks that Carrie and Marco discover so much about the other that I had a lump in my throat as they told their respective story’s. There is push and pull between the characters and decisions that must be made as the story draws to a conclusion. I really enjoyed this terrific frenemy to lover’s romance and look forward to Cade’s story.

    Thoroughly enjoyed

This is the second book in the series and one I really enjoyed and is Marco Solis and Carrie Garner's story. Marco has a complex, when he is around, people seem to leave. First his parents, then his fiance and now his business partner Beck, is too busy with his girlfriend to concentrate on the bar they own. In fact it is because of Beck that he meets the totally unsuitable, yet super hot Carrie. Marco is everything that Carrie doesn't want, bossy, arrogant, sexy and an alpha male. Unfortunately for Marco and Carrie, although they dislike each other, it becomes increasingly hard to overlook the fact that they are also attracted to each other. Now that they have been thrown together by the relationship of their best friends, they have no choice but to confront their feelings. Can they both overcome the insecurities and hurts from the past? Will they be prepared to take a chance at finding happiness? Friendships forged over many years help both Marco and Carrie to overcome their fears and at times I felt like crying for them both and then there was the laughter as well. I look forward to reading the next book in the series
