Fun, fast read with intreging plot.

I received this ARC of House of Royals from the author, Keary Taylor, in exchange for an honest review. House of Royals was an easy book to fall into. The writing is rich and descriptive with a hint of mystery. Alivia Ryan has just discovered that the father she never knew has passed away and left her his sprawling southern estate. She moves in only to discover it and the seemingly sleepy town of Silent Bend are not as they seem. Soon Alivia discovers that the town is manipulated by vampires. Keary Taylor does an excellent job of making these vampires her own. She tweaks the lore enough to make it original and intriguing again and no, none of them sparkle. The hierarchy of the vampire world is intricate and well explained. I don’t want to give too much of this away as learning about them is half the fun of the book. The other half of the fun is Ian Ward. His parents were killed in an attack and he spends his free time hunting them down and keeping the town safe. Upon arriving at the town Ian almost kills Alivia, believing she is about to turn. This was the only out of place moment of the book. Their first meeting was off somehow. Alivia didn’t seem scared enough, traumatic events happen and her reactions to them seem too collected. The rest of the book more than makes up for this moment though. Trust me. Ian and Alivia are adorable together with their little power plays and flirtations. All the characters fit nicely and are individual making you want to learn more about them. Rath was Alivia’s father helper and he has some mysteries of his own. And Lula, I loved Lula. She is Ian’s not-so-sweet crazy grandma. Jasmine is the unofficial leader of the vampire house in town and she is manipulative and fun to read. The ending was crazy and I can’t wait to read the next book to see where that goes! Great start to a fun and intriguing series. Highly recommend!

    Not just another vampire book

This book is quite interesting with the origin of how vampires are created and how the vampire politics are handled. Alivia was an interesting character to read and other characters were have their own mystery like Rath. I also like the way the author described the Southern way of life and their people.

Alivia is one kick ass character!

I honestly didn't know this was about vampires until I read a review. Though now reading the new summary I can kind of see that it is haha. Anyways, I haven't read a vampire book since early last year so I was excited and not gonna lie, a little bit nervous to see what Mrs. Taylor was going to bring to the table. I should have never doubted her! She brings an interesting and fresh tale that I think all vampire lovers would love! Throughout I was sitting on the edge of my seat, especially when we were learning more about the vampire world! I was instantly hooked, seriously on the edge of my seat! I did not want to leave this world! I also loved how this kind of reminded me of The Originals, with it being in the south and all the hierarchy stuff. Oh god, I just love the south and Mrs. Taylor brought it to life beautifully! It just sucked me in more! Alivia (god, I love that name!) brought many feels to me! Especially the doomed end to her and Ian, who by the way got like 3x hotter when we find out that he's a virgin! Or am I the only women here that thinks that? Anyways, I was cheering for them throughout the whole read! *Small spoiler* Even though there relationship is doomed from the start as he's a vampire hunter and she's a Born.* Which is why it was such an emotional roller coaster for me, especially at the end. Oh my gosh, that ending! I honestly saw it coming because I didn't think Mrs. Taylor would be that mean so I was literally jumping with joy at the end! My heart was so happy! I can't wait to find out how that's even possible in the next book! Overall I absolutely enjoyed this! I loved that Alivia took things into her own hands and didn't wait for anyone else to make any decisions for her. She is one kick ass character! She's strong and smart (loved where she hid many wooden stakes in her dress!) and I can't wait to see what she does in the next one! God, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one!
