    A refreshing story!

4.5 stars I really enjoyed this rather different story which gave me a few laughs and was fun to read too! I really liked the characters especially Gemma and her friends, the banter was rather witty and really true to a girls night and support they give each other! Zach! Gemma had some rather endearing names for her neighbor! He was certainly different but also a genuine guy! Ah what a refreshing story! I thought the way the storyline went was great but I just knew due to Zachs past, something was going to happen! I rather liked the way Gemma tackled her job, she was a caring person who wanted only whats best for her clients and it certainly showed! A great story!

Funny start to a new series!!

Chick Flick Club Oh how I love this first book in the new series! Every gal needs their own chick flick club and tribe of friends that have your back and will help bury the bodies! This story is about Gemma (who we met briefly in Man Candy) and Zach. Gemma is such a sweetheart, always seeing the positive, but don't take that as weakness! She is strong and loyal and will fight with the best of them. She loves her friends and she tolerates her "Bigfoot" neighbor Zach, at least in the beginning. Zach is recovering from his ex and is embracing his single life by living like he was in college. He kicks cleanliness and personal grooming to the wayside and embraces his nickname that Gemma bestows on him. He thinks he is over his ex, but is he? Read and see! I love the humor in Ms. Monroe's stories! They are outrageously funny! Add to that the romance and off the charts steaminess and you get one helluva story! Underneath all the hair and sloppiness of Zach beats the heart of a true romantic and with the help of Gemma, he finds it again. The secondary characters are phenomenal and bring such humor and levity to the story! I cannot wait to see what comes of them as each new story comes out! If you haven't read Lila Monroe, what in the heck are you waiting for?!? Go now and get this book, the start of her new series and I can guarantee you will be reading all of her books! I am!

Absolutely wonderful, a delightful mix of funny, steamy and emotional If you love a warm, witty and well written tale of love then you need look no further than this. How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days drew me in from the first chapter and held my attention through out. The book is written 1st person and I really liked that there were chapters from Zach's view point, allowing us to really get to know him as a character. They say never judge a book by it's cover, and that analogy was true for Zach. He appeared to be a selfish, man-whore of a slob, but as we got to know and understand him, there was a real diamond hidden under the layers of neglect. A very gentle soul who just needed to be guided back into life. Gemma was strong but still sweet and very caring. Both her and Zach were immensely likeable and believable characters. I really believed in their connection, despite the short time period there were enough interactions, conversations and events for it to feel very real. The resolution was perhaps a little hurried, the idea's were brilliant but I would have loved to experience some of them from Zach's perspective, even if only briefly. However this didn't detract from my enjoyment of what is a really entertaining story and one that is very worth reading.

    Predictable but enjoyable makeover romance

Three and a half stars. Gemma Jones works for a fashion company that helps clients change their image. In her spare time she also donates time to helping women at a shelter find clothes for job interviews. When a big new promotion is on the table at work her boss gets Gemma and her arch-rival to do a make-over on an unsuspecting male to turn him from disaster to GQ-ready. Her nemesis chooses Gemma's Bigfoot next door neighbour, the sort of guy who wears shorts and flip-flops all day long, eats cereal for lunch and plays computer games all day. The only catch? Gemma can't tell Bigfoot about the competition. Zach Morrison sold his tech start up company for millions, just days after his divorce was finalised, now he's enjoying cutting loose and relaxing, so what if that involves lots of ladies and not shaving or getting dressed or buying furniture for his apartment? Okay maybe he has taken things too far. Zach reluctantly agrees to help Gemma but as they work together they discover they made some wild assumptions about each other. I liked this but it was overly predictable. Of course Gemma is too shallow to see beyond the shaggy beard to the man beneath. Of course Zach is a millionaire but lives like a slob. Of course keeping the competition a secret from Zach is a bad idea. It was all a bit Pretty Woman except Zach got the makeover and he was a millionaire. I think this is perfect beach reading, light-hearted and fun, easy to pick up.

Review: How to Choose a Guy in 10 days

How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days by Lila Monroe is the first book in her brand new series, Chick Flick Club . A Series of romantic comedies surrounding a close group of friends who spend some quality time watching, you guessed it, chick flicks. Told in dual POV, this is the story of Gemma and Bigfoot, also known as Zach, her jerk neighbor. Gemma is a stylist who has been offered a promotion. One caveat, it's a competition between her and her catty co-worker. Her job is to improve the Bigfoot lumberjack of a next door neighbor in the next ten days. Her promotion depends upon it. If only he would stop slamming the door in her face... Zach has been living like a college frat boy for a while now and he's fine with it. Why his neighbor won't leave him alone is another problem. But it turns out he isn't as annoyed by her as he thought. Besides it's about time he found out who he really is when he isn't hiding behind his frat boy behavior and actually starts adulting for once. Funny, sweet, romantic and sexy this is yet another smash hit from one of my favorite authors. The secondary characters are wonderful and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, You've Got Male. Enjoy!
