    A Disappointment

I purchased this book with the hope {and expectation} of reading a thrilling account of this hero's exploits. Instead, I found it to be a dry, boring, and unengaging recitation of facts regarding wartime actions that read more along the lines of a textbook, or an after-action report gleaned from the filing cabinet in a Squadron's administration office. Many brilliant, first-person-type stories have been written that put us right there in the cockpit [or trenches, or tank] along with our hero, but this isn't one of them. Sections of this book go for pages without even mentioning Commodore Brothers, and focus on the exploits of other Squadrons and aviators. Although they are heros as well, is not the reason why I purchased this book. Commodore Brothers deserved a better telling of his lifetime of exploits. This book would not inspire any young person to follow in his footsteps.
