  • Luc and Oliver are back!

Luc and Oliver are back! I thought it was great to get more of these two. As always, the sparks are flying with every single interaction they share. The story pulled me in quickly and sent my emotions spinning. There's lots of drama and tension here so be prepared for the high-energy workout headed straight for your heart! I am electing to post an objective review.

  • This one had all the feels!

After reading Boyfriend Material, I was anxious to get my hands on Husband Material to see how Lucian and Oliver had been getting on with their lives. Seeing how these two continue to navigate their relationship made for another interesting adventure. Luc and Oliver are living their lives and just like anyone else, they are dealing with real world issues, they are a hot mess at times and the things they are going through make them completely relatable. There is no doubt how much these two love one another and the issues they are dealing with show the progression of their relationship from Boyfriend Material to now. In the previous book they were falling in love and now they are finding ways to work through issues and be there for one another in ways they haven't had to be before. Once again this book had all the feels. It made you laugh, smile, cry and hurt for both Luc and Oliver. I will say there were times that parts felt very repetitive and drawn out, but I still enjoyed it.

  • Brilliant sequel - what Luc and Oliver did next

Quick recap, Luc's ex sold him out to the tabloids for £50,000, his father is a narcissistic ageing rock star who faked a cancer scare for the publicity, and he works for a dung beetle charity. Oliver is a vegan barrister with food issues, a heightened sense of social responsibility, and parents who constantly belittle him. It's now two years since Luc O'Donnell and Oliver Blackwood fake-dated their way into romance. They are still together but all around them friends and family (and exes) are getting married. Yes, it's Four Weddings and a Funeral for the 2020s. Was any book so hotly anticipated (by me) as this one? I LOVED Boyfriend Material and I slavered over the teaser chapters that were made available on NetGalley for Husband Material so I really, really, really wanted to read this book. I was even contemplating stalking Alexis Hall to beg for an ARC, then the publisher granted me an ARC! So normally when that happens all the anticipation is too much pressure and the book disappoints - not this one. Loved it, there's the usual laughter, tears, ridiculous jokes, and relationship angst. TBH 85% of the way through the book I had NO idea where it was going to end up, but as usual Alexis Hall did a brilliant job, confounded my expectations and had me reaching for a tissue (I'm not crying, you're crying). Please give us more Luc and Oliver! I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

  • Sweet, charming, and outrageously entertaining!

Husband Material is an amusing, spirited tale that takes us back into the life of Luc O’Donnell and Oliver Blackwood as their two-year relationship is put to the test during a stressful, emotional season of exes, friends, and co-worker weddings and an unexpected family death. The writing is clever and witty. The characters are supportive, patient, and multilayered. And the plot is a push-pull tale full of life, love, familial responsibility, workplace comedy, tender moments, hilarious mishaps, sharp banter, pressure, expectations, grief, closure, friendship, acceptance, and swoon-worthy romance. As some of you may remember, Boyfriend Material was one of my top reads of 2020, so when I heard Hall would be writing a second book about these much-loved characters, I was beyond ecstatic, and he didn’t disappoint. Husband Material is another dramatic, humorous, romantic tale that confirms that Luc and Oliver have definitely found contented, committed domesticity together and is the perfect way to wrap up this duology I highly recommend.

  • Great

An amazing sequal to "boyfriend material". Was truely blown away by Alexis Hall this time.
