    Thanks for your feedback!

    Fascinating book

For a non-scientist interested in learning more about recent advances in knowledge regarding the microbiota inhabiting our world (actually, mostly inhabiting us!), this book is a godsend. The writing is clear and understandable without being condescending, and the author is very adept at creating interesting analogies which help to explain the more complex processes of our microbiome. He has a delightful and wry wit, which also adds to the pleasure of reading the book. I only wish he had been more willing to tackle the implications -- moral and otherwise -- of the research in manipulating the genomes of our microbiota to achieve various ends. It is exciting and awe-inspiring that the technology exists to modify the genes of microbes too small to be seen by the human eye, but as in any such research the long term implications are often not what the scientists had in mind. But until I read this wonderful book, I would not even have known that such research was possible. Rarely have I read a book from which I learned so much, and so greatly enjoyed learning it.
