  • I'll Be Gone In The Dark

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about true crime. This book was very well resesrched and the author knew what she was talking about.

  • Confusing

The last half of this book is pieced together by friends of the author when she sadly died before she got half way through. The first part of the book is awesome and hard to put down. The last half is confusing and hard to follow.hence the 3star rating.

  • Riveting to the end

Ms. McNamara did an amazing job amassing all this information. It is a shame she never got to see the fruit of her labors; the book being published and the killer caught. You can see her dedication and that of the police department to catching such a heinous animal.

  • Too much about the author

A lot of hype surrounds this book, mostly due to the author's sudden death and the coincidental arrest of the 'Golden State Killer.' This book describes the killings and efforts to solve the mystery by the police; it also includes a lot of the author's own (incorrect) theorising and investigations. The title makes it sound like she was the only person looking for the killer. This is incorrect and a disservice to all those who did investigate, and eventually caught, the killer. If you are interested in true crime writing it is probably worth reading, but I am very uneasy about the narcissistic tone of the book.

    Thanks for your feedback!
