    Powerful.

There's such a great deal of power in this story. At the very least it will make you think; ideally it will spark conversations that will lead to better understanding and more love and acceptance; at best (and oh, how important this is) it will save lives. I also appreciate Russo's note at the beginning of the novel (Russo is a trans woman herself), in which she explains that Amanda's story isn't representative of all trans people's experiences--but how lovely it would be if it were. The world Amanda lives in isn't without fear and pain, but at its core there is love, friendship, hope and happiness. That is the world I hope I can live in one day, and novels like Russo's will help us get there. Do read it.

    Beautiful

Please read this book. Open your heart and your mind and feel the strength displayed in Amanda. Everyone is special and beautiful you just have to feel it not see it.

    Diversity with a BIG D

This is a simple yet wonderful story that should be on everyone's must read list and in all high school English classes. The author has an honest and sincere understanding of being special and it comes through in her writing. This is a story of fiction, but touches on the true reality of life where we must all deal with our own values and feelings towards others ... and ourselves.

    great book

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's great to know that books on this topic are out there, and from an auther that speaks of personal experience. It was very eye opening hearing a first hand account of how it feels to be a trans teenager. I also enjoyed how the story was told and unfolds, with just the right amount of the real world and "hollywood" reality.
