    Amazing hot read

For years Carter Shaw has been in love with Lacey Andrews. Knowing that his best friend Garrett also has feelings for Lacey, Carter pushes the two together. He knows deep down that Garrett is the better man for her. The friendship the three share is unique and special. That friendship is put to the test after an intense sizzling night. Before Garrett and Carter can put things right again, Garrett is killed. When Lacey shows up on Carter's doorstep, guilt and remorse has him trying to push her away. Lacey won't have any of it and forces Carter to really look at himself and decide exactly what he wants. This one is sizzling hot for sure but it also has a great story at the core. I would definitely recommend this one.

    Life is too short!

One night one man shared his woman with his best friend. Garrett and Lacey wanted Carter to complete their relationship as a ménage. There was only one surprise Carter couldn't live with, then Garrett was killed in the line of duty and their trio was no more. Will Carter ever be able to forget about Lacey and move on? Will he regret not giving his answer to Garrett sooner and wasting so much time? "His sexiness came, not from his hair or his clothes, but from the way he moved and the confidence and intensity that was just a part of him" Lacey describing Carter. I am NEVER disappointed by the writing of Erin Nicholas and this story is as great as the rest of them. The feelings Carter was dealing with were intense. First I was a little disappointed in how he was dealing but after some thought, there really is no precedent for dealing with that kind of situation. I love how Lacey was assertive in going after what she wanted. The drunken bar scene had me laughing out loud! I love the Boys of Fall series! Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

    sexy, emotional and conflicted characters

Carter found the woman of his dreams - but when his best friend was interested in her too, he backed off and let them have a relationship, figuring that with his past, his friend Garrett would be a better bet as a husband for Lacey. Remaining good friends with both of them, things started to heat up as the attraction between Carter and Lacey never waned and the three of them shared a passionate night together at Garrett and Lacey's invitation, one that left Carter reeling and uncertain of what to do next when Garrett approached him to consider making things more permanent. Then Garrett died tragically in an accident. Six months went by in which Carter and Lacey had no contact, grieving Garrett's loss alone. When Lacey decided it was time to move forward, she was ready to do it with Carter, and comes to his home town to find him and show him that she's ready for a future with him, and only him. Will Carter be able to put the past behind them and commit to the woman he fell in love with at first sight? When is a menage not a menage? Well, when one of the threesome dies tragically and leaves two behind, as is the case in this story. Except that Garrett's presence is still being felt in the decisions that are made, his love for Lacey and for Carter impacting them even now as they try to go on without him and navigate a future that was never supposed to be like this, but is. While Carter was trying to grapple with how a permanent menage relationship would work between them, especially when Garrett's feelings for him were romantic and sexual in nature while Carter's were only platonic, Garrett upped and died on him, leaving him with only 'what if' scenarios and a grieving woman who Carter loves as much as Garrett did. And he doesn't feel any better prepared now to marry Lacey and provide for her then he did back then, his father's failed relationships impacting his own present ones. He worries so much about obsessing over a woman that he doesn't believe he can have a mature relationship with Lacey that won't lead to obsession, even though in reality he doesn't show signs of the compulsive nature that has driven his father. I really liked Carter and I felt a lot of empathy for him as he navigates grief and his feelings of guilt over not returning Garrett's overtures and wasting the time they could have had together before he died. Lacey has had an equally difficult time of it, not the least of which being Carter cutting her off after Garrett died and the confusion and heartache that came with that. But she's determined to show him that he's good enough for her, and that she wants him back in her life again. The two of them together definitely had smoking hot chemistry and their love scenes are steamy and emotional. In fact the whole story is a mix of emotions - combining the heartache of loss, with the confusion and guilt of wanting something you shouldn't and the joy and happiness of finding love. I really enjoyed the story overall and felt it had a very realistic tone. Definitely worth the read. 4 stars.

    Hot!

Fans of Erin Nicholas' steamy and sweet series should take note that this book is less sweet and lots steamier than her previous books. And that’s a very good thing. I really like Lacey and admire her for going after what she wants, which is a life with Carter, her late fiancé’s best friend. Now Carter. *sigh* He's a likeable guy. Sexy for sure. But Carter has a lot to learn and even more to accept. Luckily Lacey is far more patient than I. Many times I was ready to smack him with his own book to knock some sense into him. It takes a while, but he finally stops fighting himself and truly gets it. Illegal Motion is a standalone, but I think the reader will get more out of it if book one, Out of Bounds, is read first. Getting to know all of the characters just adds more feels to each story. I can’t wait for book three to revisit them in their fictional town of Quinn. If the author kicks up the heat level again, things are going to get even more interesting. I say bring it. 3.5 Stars

    Loved it!!

Carter has been in love with Lacey for years, but never felt he was good enough or the marrying type. He lets his best friend, Garrett have Lacey instead. They all share one sizzling night between the three of them. Soon after Garrett is killed, Lacey has decided she has something special with Carter, now only prove to Carter that he is good enough for her. A sizzling read, but an emotional read that will will have you laughing and crying. An unconditional love between Lacey and Carter is a special story, that I highly recommend.
