    In Black and White

There have been several books that have been difficult for me to review. In Black and White is one of them. Let me start by saying I would give this book 3 stars because there were several things I didn't like and several things that annoyed me. But I will put those things aside. In Black and White was a typical interracial story, except for the fact that it was Christian fiction. The author was trying to show the evils of racism, and I think she somewhat succeeded. But in other ways it fell short. Since race was the subject matter, I felt like this couple fell in love too quick, which made the story lack the depth it could have had. I gave it 3 stars because I felt there were a lot of things that were glossed over, and as I said earlier, there were several things that annoyed me. Also, everything is wrapped up in a nice neat bow. Race is not an easy subject to write about. It's hard and gritty. At times it is scary, and most people would prefer not to discuss it. I applaud the author for tackling a difficult societal problem. There is much more I want to say, but what I will say is read the book for yourself. You may love it or you may not.
