  • Dragons, ships,Seas battles, what's not to like

If you are a fan of books with dragon, alternate history fiction, or just a good old fashion sea battle. You should love this series. Naomi takes you to the seas of a Napoleonic era world. Where dragons are not a flight of fiction or myth but are very real. Where battles are won by the side with the best dragon battle group. Dragons and men ( and some women) bond when the shell breaks to become part their countries air force. So what do you do if you are the second son of a British Lord who has rebelled against a life in the church by running away to join his majesty's Navy. You've worked hard and are the Captain of a fine ship. Finally able to approach the love of your life with an offer of marriage. Then you defeat of French vessel and find her hole a dragon egg, which is about to hatch. Suddenly the life, the future you envisioned is all gone... And you are face with a very different destiny . All because of a black dragon you name Temeraire. This three novel set will take you along on the adventure which spans the seven seas and leave you wanting more. The good news is that Naomi has continued to the adventure which only gets better the more you read. By only problem is that I don't live in this alternate world. Like I said at the beginning Dragons, battleships, seas battles, all the things I like best. Can I go and live in Temeraire's world, pretty please.

  • Wonderful re-imagined look at the 1800's

I started reading Naomi Novik via Uprooted & Silver. Really enjoy her story telling style & the characters she creates so I moved on the Tereraire series. Now I can't quit reading them! Her take on a time when dragons are real and extraordinarily intelligent creatures during the early 1800's deals with a whole range of issues of the time from slavery to societal standard (towards women as one example) make for wonderful reading. Highly recommended.

  • If you are looking for a new series this omnibus is the way to go. Three books in one, filled with action, adventure and dragons set in the middle of the Napoleonic war. Ask yourself, what if dragons were used as airplanes instead? What if they had the same intelligence as you and I but had been conditioned to believe that they were lesser creatures? And what if one started to ask questions? These books will not disappoint.
