  • Great Suspense and Really HOT!

This is the first book I've read b LA Bryce and I think it might be her first published novel. I really enjoyed this story and it would have been a 5-star review for me except for a few things that I'll mention later. First off, the suspense and mystery in this story was really good and kept me glued to my e-reader. I felt the connection between the characters and got emotionally involved with their struggles. It was an angsty story but not too angsty, in my opinion. Noah left the SEALs suddenly and he's still bitter about that. Mason works with the FBI and is currently on a task force to crack a terrorist case. I felt bad for Noah, he was so afraid of admitting he's gay and having his SEAL team members finding out that he left the SEALs without telling his SEAL brothers. Mason is full of guilt because a terrorist attack killed his brother-in-law. He promised his sister that he would find the terrorist cell who did it but he hasn't been able to make good on his promise. The sexy time between Noah and Mason was HOT! So, I really liked these two guys and the story, too. I just wish I hadn't found so many things that bothered me. I really try not to be a picky reader, unless I'm doing a beta read, but there were just too many little things that jumped out at me while I was reading In His Sights. I think that most of the issues I note below should have been caught by a good editor. Examples are: 1. Sometimes the author used 24-hour time to express the time of day, as I would expect with the two MCs being former military men, and other times it was expressed as "07:30 P.M." and yet another time it was expressed as "fifteen hundred." 2. Mason's decision to go to his office after fifteen hundred hours (3:00 P.M.) because no one would be around then. Huh? I've been in federal buildings on many a Friday afternoon and they are not deserted. 3. Mason not being able to access certain files at his work from his computer so he goes to a computer in a conference room saying he'll be able access the secured server from there. I'm not an expert but I did computer support for a government agency before I retired. Access to files/secured servers is usually controlled by a person's login. I've never heard of changing to a difference computer, especially not one in a conference room. 4. A nurse looked at Noah with lust in her eyes so that told him she was of legal age. 5. [Potential Spoiler] The blurb implies that Mason is Noah's blackmailer but in chapter 31 we find out it is someone else. There are other things, too, but they were much more minor concerns that could happen in any book. I really don't want to leave this on a negative note so once again I'm going to say how much I liked this story. I don't know if this is going to be part of a series or not but I could certainly see the setup for one, especially towards the end of the book, and I really do hope that LA Bryce will write that series. In spite of all of the somewhat negative things I mentioned, I really liked her writing but felt that the editor let her down. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author. ***Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions dot com***
