    Thanks for your feedback!

Don't let the cover put you off!

I almost passed on this one due to the cover image (seemed way too 'bad paperback romance'!) but am glad I didn't. The content was much more 'heroic fantasy', with an immersive world built around believably complex cultures and personalities - I was quickly drawn in and went directly on to the other two books in the series wanting to know what would happen next. Resnick generally sets out the plotting of 'bad guys' pretty clearly so you could mostly see betrayals or sad surprises coming fairly well in advance, but this still didn't entirely kill the suspense? Although epic, the action was definitely rescued from any risk of over-earnestness by the flicks of genuine (if sometimes sardonic) humour popping up throughout.
