    Beautiful story!

After a few rough years, Beth Caplan is ready for a new beginning at college. What she doesn't count on is having her brother's best friend and her crush, David March, as her babysitter and bodyguard. David March doesn't mind keeping an eye on her best friend's little sister. He always had a crush on her, but knew that Cap wouldn't approve. Also, he doesn't feel he's worthy of Beth. Now they are together in college and it seems they can't stay way from each other. Will they finally give in to their feelings? I loved In Pieces! Beth and David's story is beautiful and heartbreaking. It took me in a rollercoaster ride of emotions, making me laugh, cry and scream. There are so many feelings in this book and it hooked me from the first page. The dash of mystery and suspense, and all the angst kept me on my toes and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. I loved the chemistry between David and Beth and the little flashbacks. Beth Caplan is a sweet young woman that has been through a lot. She has demons she tries to keep at bay and made some choices that had huge consequences. But she's trying to stay strong and become a better and happier version of herself. I loved how she stood up for herself during the family dinner. David March is known to be a cocky playboy. But he's also very sweet and protective. He always had feelings for Beth, but it was ingrained in him that he was a disappointment. So, he believes he'll never be good enough for her. He made me swoon a lot but also had some jerk moments. This is my first book by Danielle Pearl and I loved it! In Pieces is beautifully written and hooked me from the first page with its incredible story and amazing characters. This is the perfect friends-to-lovers / brother's-best-friend romance and I can't wait to read more by Danielle. I really hope she'll write Reeve and Lani's story.

    4.5 BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN STARS!

Danielle Pearl has been on my radar for a while and when I heard she had penned an angsty best friend's little sister coming of age college romance about a hero who becomes the self-appointed protector of a beautiful, courageous girl who had been left in pieces after one traumatic night, I was sold! And OMG this book was simply spectacular!!!! I was consumed with this highly addictive love story from start to finish, and I thought the journey these two forbidden lovers embarked on was BREATHTAKING. This is a spoiler-free review so if you are looking for a plot summary, read the magnificent blurb. I am here to talk about feelings…and holy wow did this book evoke a TON of them. I smiled. Swooned. Sighed. Sobbed. And surrendered my heart COMPLETELY to these amazing, beautifully flawed beloved characters. You know when you are so invested in a couple triumphing over all odds, your chest constricts, your pulse races and you feel a churning in your gut and a lump in your throat in each and every scene they share? Well, that's how I feel about Beth and David!!!! Their love is forbidden (hello she is his bff’s baby sis…enough said)! Yet these two are so DESTINED that I could barely breathe at times! And MEGA Dreamy Book Boyfriend Alert: David is the kind of college boyfriend we all fantasized of having but never had! He’s sweet, sexy, kind, fiercely protective and just soooooooo yummy! I loved him with every beat of my WILDLY SMITTEN heart! I so wanted him to get the girl, heal her, fill all her bereft, empty places with his warmth and devotion and forever love! But, alas, he has his own personal strife and feels woefully unworthy. The road these two traversed was far from smooth. Their was pain and suffering and misunderstandings to be had . Oodles of it. So have tissues handy! This is definitely a SLOW BURNING friends to lovers romance, with palpable tension, a torrent of raging emotion and delicious push-pull throughout. I enjoyed how David tries to mask his feelings of love and devotion while trying to keep her safe—at times bordering on “overprotective” according to his less than grateful Bea—while Beth, who has also harbored a secret crush on her brother’s best friend since she was a wee one starts to flourish and spread her wings, come alive and dare to dream of a future again. But when it all comes crashing down will David always be there to pick up the pieces? I admire how Ms. Pearl touches on some tough issues with dignity and grace and takes her time evolving this relationship into a thing of beauty. There is nothing headier for me as a reader then the moment when the seemingly unrequited yearning blossoms into full fledged love! There is no shortage of drama or angst in this book and there is also a nice dose of suspense and danger as the past and present collide and David vows to protect his beautifully broken yet infinitely brave girl at all costs. There are hot sexy times too.. and a plot twist that I never saw coming ! Only two tiny quibbles in an otherwise EPIC love story. First..…while for the most part the story is beautifully paced, I thought the internal thoughts seemed a tad repetitive in places which made for some monotonous reading at times. And second… I personally found the ending to be a tad rushed and would have liked a little more to sink my teeth into so I could truly back in the sweet afterglow!! That aside, I loved this heartfelt and emotionally-charged New Adult novel to PIECES and can’t wait to read more books from the divine author!!

My first experience with this author & not last

This was my first Danielle Pearl book. And whoa! What an introduction. I love, love, love the friends-to-lovers, childhood crush tropes, but this book is so much more than any of those tropes. So much more. David and Beth’s characters have so much past between them and on their own that I felt like I was also part of their lives. I felt every emotion that came off the pages-either from the flashbacks or the present- that I sometimes needed to walk away from the book to process. The angst was so palpable that I held my breath sometimes to to ease the pain of it and to help me from yelling at these two when they were being ridiculous. I will most definitely pick up Danielle’s other works and add her to my automatic read list. *an arc was provided in exchange for an honest review*

    Beautiful

It's always a privilege to know new author's and their books and I'm so happy for the chance. Danielle Pearl is a new author to me and I'm hooked. Her writing is sweet, real, simple and with a bit of suspense into the mix. I'm not a huge fan of Coming of Age genre but I love love this book, because this author had the ability to get my attention. In Pieces is her latest release and explores Beth and David and it's the second book from the Something More series. Beth saw her life ending when her boyfriend ended things with her. She wanted to give up and be left alone but her big brother had other ideas to her. She needed a tutor to help her with school and if she agreed she would go to college and move on with her life. It's hard to get back at our feet when our mind keep playing tricks with us but we can't give up. She's happy to be left alone but when her brother's best friends decided to be her shadow she loses that happiness. David always had a fling for Beth, but since she was his best friend's sister she was off limits. When he sees her at campus, he has his mind set up. He needs to protect her no matter what. Can the forbidden be broken? Can we dodge love? Oh my.... What a breathtaking story. I knew that I was going to embark on a bumpy and emotional rollercoaster but this was off the charts. The way the story progressed left me anxious, nervous, frighten. Do you know that feeling that something is missing? That there is more behind that break up? Well, let's just say that I found the missing piece of the puzzle and dayum... What an image... I loved this book do much and I want more. I just love a book told by the main characters, because we can get into their minds. Oh Danielle... What emotional story this was. Can I have more please? I know that I need to read book 1 and I can't wait to do it. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
