    Unlikeable protoganist, unsatisfying end

This book starts off incredibly well with tight plotting and descriptive prose that captures the time period with such vividness that you can almost hear the little plastic radio playing music from the period in a sunny backyard. But then the book jumps several decades and the protagonist is quickly revealed to be as likeable as mould on cheese... He lurches from one self induced crisis to another and, while it could be argued that this is due to the damage suffered in his youth, there is no closure, no answer, no catharsis to his own story. And the main mystery itself is wrapped up all too quickly and simply, with a whimper rather than a wailing police-siren blaring bang. An unsatisfying read that left me angry.

    An Impressing Debut.

One of the better mysteries I have read, In the Wood has a definite literary dent, excellent prose, and great characters. It also kept me entertained and guessing for almost the whole time. Recommended for anyone who doesn't mind not having all the answers.

    In the woods

An extremly disappointing ending to a very long drawn out story. I would not rate this book at all.

    Was just okay...

I do like Tana French and have read most of what she has written. The Woods however i thought was quite long-winded . and rambled on at times. Was a good read if it had been condensed slightly.

    Satisfying

Watching this on TV in tandem with book is a cheat I know. However the characters and tension are revealed more in the writing of this taut murder mystery. Punctuated with Irish vernacular it captures the ordinary people caught in a tragedy. There is a whiff of magic and pagan mysticism.
