What more could you want for an adventure? Toby Neal has another winning book with her first YA novel, Island Fire. The sun has kissed the island area of Lanai, Hawaii, almost literally. A Sun phenomena affects all technology on the island and who knows where else? Four young kids find they must face the challenges of survival; plane crashes, fires, pit bulls, sharks, gangs, abuse, along with food and water needs. Each finds their inner strengths and face their own fears and weaknesses. I love the "dragon" and horse, as the animal world helps the young humans in their adventures of survival. This is a realistic story and yet an adventure that takes your mind to imaginary places. I found I could relate with the real emotional aspects these kids face with budding hormones, friendships, loss and abuse and a real crisis that impels them to reach for plausible solutions, (Even though I am almost 70). These kids become a real team in helping each other, themselves and others. I had trouble putting this book down and fell in love with the well developed characters that Neal has created in her new Novel. The story is fast paced with excitement and new dilemmas. I hope this will be a continuing series as it has the blossoms and seeds of growth in several areas to become a "coming of age" adventure series. Thank you Toby Neal for another delightful novel that has enriched my reading experience.

    Thanks for your feedback!
