Glad I Gave It A Try

Here goes… I have been curious about this book/series for a while but when reading the reviews I was put off by the almost pure talk of cults, abuse, and darkness that is in this book. Its not my thing, and I don't care for books that are focused on these things. I, however, LOVE MC romance and was recommend this book as one of the best. It went on sale and I decided to take a chance… and I am so glad I did. This was such a wonderful book. Full of grit, and steam, happiness and love, redemption and an ode to the human spirit. The MC aspect was perfect and more of the book then the cult aspect. For that I am greatful. I thought the cult (the abuse and the violence) was horrific, but well done and there was just enough to satisfy the story without making the topic overly graphic and sensationalized. I am so glad I took a chance and you better believe I will be reading the rest of this series in the near future. If you can handle dark, give it a try it really is worth the read.

    2 Not for Me stars

I’m so confused by all the 4 and 5 star reviews on Goodreads. I feel like I must’ve read a different version of It Ain’t Me, Babe. The cover art is fantastic, the premise sounded awesome and the prologue was really promising. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end for me. None of the characters were likeable or had any depth, the dialogue was terrible, each situation was exaggerated to the point of being unrealistic and there was too much crammed into the story for any of it to be given the proper attention it needed in order to feel authentic.

    Styx and Mae

Styx finds someone that brings him to speak, the girl with the wolf eyes. Mae finds someone that is nothing like the men that she knows that live behind the fence. Fast forward years later they meet again by chance when Mae is in need of saving. Is the MC life that Styx lives the life that she needs to be a part of, or is the life behind the fence were she really belongs. Tillie Cole draws you into this dark and emotional story. The connecction between Styx and Mae is one that is strong and stands out throughout the entire book. Even when Styx wants to deny that he feel anything at all for this girl that doesnt even know what living really is. The love triangle that developes between Mae, Styx and Rider, which was something that Mae did not see happening, only adds another level to the their story. The twists that Rider throws in is something that most would not of seen happening. This is the perfect book for someone that is looking for a MC series that stands out from the other MC series out there today. Tillie Cole has a way of making you fall in love with each of the broken characters that you find in this dark and gritty love story
