Smoke and Mirrors … 4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this book once I got into it. It’s been a long time since I read anything in the paramilitary genre and I was a bit slow getting back into the groove. There were a lot of characters needing introductions at the beginning and that bogged me down for a while. Despite that, the writing was smooth, the characters were well developed and the plot unfolded well and held my interest throughout the book. I especially enjoyed the high tech world of ‘HERA’, the security system created by Mary and Vi. It was also refreshing that the Brainiacs and back office ops in this story were all women – about time! There was the required action, intrigue and suspense as expected. There were also some interesting plot twists and sufficient red herrings to lead up to the climax. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    The series has promise

Exciting story. A descrption of all the vaious characters or some way to distiguish between them especially when they were all talking in the same scene would be good. Chapter 2 had two spots where the word regiment and regimen were mixed. One time I could have blamed spell check but not two times. That was disappointing.

    Jagged Edge

One of the most enjoyable and captivating adventures that I have had the pleasure of reading. Marvelous story line with fast paced serious action and creative tools to deal with the bad guys. Add romance, interesting characters, and unrelenting intrigue, and you have an incredible read!
