    A great series!

The third book in this series is a delicious delight. The premise of a "donut shop" cozy has certainly been done before, but this series gives it a fresh feel. The characters are well written and entertaining. The whodunit was engaging and kept me guessing until the end. I recommend this book and look forward to reading the next one. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

    Enjoyable cozy mystery

This is a new to me series. Emily is a widow who, along with her father-in-law Tom, owns a donut shop named Deputy Donuts. When a winner of a contest is murdered with donuts from her shop, Emily knows she needs to find out who the murderer is. I really liked it. Jealousy Filled Donuts was a fun cozy. The characters were likeable and the kitten Dep won me over right away! And the burgeoning romance between Emily and Brent was great. The story kept me engaged and I did not guess the murderer beforehand. I will be reading more of this series. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

Another home run by Ginger Bolton

Jealousy Filled Donuts by Ginger Bolton is the third book in the Deputy Donut Mystery series. In addition, it is the second book that I have read by this author. As with the second book in the series, Goodbye Cruller World, I found the story easy to read as well as follow, though I must admit that it took me a good long while to figure out whodunit. Which in all honesty, is just the way I like my cozy mysteries. Ms. Bolton’s writing made this reader want to continue reading on and on until I had consumed the entire book, regardless of time or the need for sleep. So…to describe why this happened I must indicate that I enjoyed getting to know the characters more, especially Emily, the owner of Deputy Donuts (along with her father in law Tom). As well - the story was well told and flowed easily. I found the events leading up to the actual murder quite funny. I say this because we have a parade and the queen of the parade is throwing a hissy fit of sorts and it just had me chuckling. Thought what does one expect from high school kids? Of note, the advancement of the relationship (of sorts) between Emily and Brett was noticeable. Brett was a bit more accepting of Emily and the help she provided on the case. And possibly is she melting a bit as well? I know it is difficult with Emily being a widow of a police officer, but she must move on and if she fancies another policeman, so be it. Time will tell! The addition to the staff at Deputy Donuts of Jocelyn was good, after all, Emily and Tom need a reprieve from the donut shop once in awhile - don’t they. I do hope Jocelyn remains in the picture for a few more books to come. Needless to say, I definitely enjoyed the cover art. Though I am a sucker for a cute kitty. So hopefully the wait for the next installment of the Deputy Donut Mystery series is not too far off in the future as I have come to enjoy this series.

Who doesn’t love donuts and a good mystery?

The fourth of July festivities have begun and Emily Westhill is driving the Donut Car in the town’s parade before giving out donuts afterwards. At the fireworks later that night Emily sees a homemade rocket that is aimed at the Queen of the festivities and is unable to stop it before it kills the young woman. Saddened, Emily is left to try to figure out who killed the young woman and why. Especially since the paper has run photos of Emily looking angry and guilty over the past few days. Young people being what they are, Emily isn’t too surprised to find that the young woman who was murdered and her friends were more frenemies than besties. Though Emily can’t imagine someone would kill over something like that. When Emily’s new shop assistant, Jocelyn, is MIA for a few days, she sees her heading up a trail to the local falls, followed by a photographer whom Jocelyn seems to be frightened by. Emily sets off in pursuit, hoping the killer won’t catch up with her or Jocelyn, but they are all putting themselves in danger. Will Emily be able o save herself and Jocelyn or are they next on the hit list? This is the first book I have read in this series and I was hooked. A true page turned and a new series added to my must read list. You’ll love the donut car, the characters, Dep the kitty, and most of all the whodunit that will keep you trying to decipher the clues and determine whodunit before all is revealed.
