  • Touches on an extremely emotional subject!

This is book 9 in the Badge of Honor, Texas Heroes series and it features Connor Paxton and Erin Gardner. Erin has a difficult past and a skewed way of looking at herself and others. Connor is a game warden, he’s sexy, confident and has seemingly unlimited patience. Not only is Connor every woman’s dream but his family is pretty amazing too. Fate chose well when she put these two in each other’s path. My high blood for Aaron, her past and what she went through in this book. This is an amazingly emotional and harrowing romance. Every book I’ve read by Susan Stoker has been outstanding, this one included. I wish we could’ve had closure with Erin‘s mother but it doesn’t change how I feel about the book. The characters were fantastic as usual. Definitely looking forward to book 10.

  • You can expect no less from Susan Stoker

I loved this book! I had read the CM episode used for inspiration and loved how Susan was able to adapt it into her story line building on comments made earlier in the story. Erin's situation is one many can relate to even if it is not as extreme as her case, which makes it such a relatable story. I just wish we all had our own Conor's to come along and convince us otherwise! I love this series, and I can not wait to read the next one. Susan Stoker is an excellent writer who keeps you hooked waiting for every new book.

  • If food be the music of love...

At first glance, Erin and Conor don't neccesarily appear to be an ideal couple - she has suffered from body image issues and bullying while the women in his family have had the same problems but cope with them better because of their 'food is love' mantra. Erin's problems were compounded by having literally the mother from hell who had a devastating effect on Erin's childhood from 8 to 18 in more than the obvious ways and fed Erin's feelings of paternal abandonment. Erin and Conor both love the outdoors and this is both the start of their relationship and, because of the twist that you don't see coming, nearly ends it. Through everything, Conor is the most incredibly patient, caring person an innocent like Erin could ever want. Despite everything, knowing this is a Susan Stoker novel, there will be friendship and there will be a HEA for Erin and Conor. I love that Ms Stoker's books deal with very difficult life situations that her heroines' partners do not see as barriers to their relationships. Another book well worth reading and a great way to increase our empathy.

  • What a great book

This book had me involved from the first page to the last. I could feel Erin's hurt, the pain and the feelings of doubt, and I love the way Conor sees her. Love truly is amazing. Thank you Susan Stoker for one of the best books you have every written, and that's saying something, as I love all your books
