One of the Best Holocaust Stories

I never tire of stories based in and around the Holocaust. This is perhaps the best I have read. The stories of inhumanity are not new, but the personalization in this book very quickly got me emotionally involved. No matter that it is fiction, your heart aches for these people and you share emotionally in their ups and downs. The characters are three-dimensional whether in the history or the present day. Much of the good and bad of what it means to be human is on display. For days after finishing this book, I would have an anecdote from the story cross my mind and I would become instantly emotional.

    Weak

If you're a fan of deus ex machina then you'll love this novel! Just too much "suspension of belief" for my liking while the ending was pure sap!

    Another excellent Holocaust book

This is the third book of Ronald H. Balson that I have read. I very much enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

    Great Read!!

I received an advanced copy of this book. Loved this book. It flowed easily and you got to know the characters very well. Lena has hired Liam and Catherine to represent her because her son wants to declare her incompetent. As Lena tells her story Liam is investigating her claims and trying to find the babies that were left in a field during the war and now everyone wants to know where they are. As Catherine goes to court to try and stop her son you are racing against time to get Lena's story and maybe find the proof that the babies excited as well as her friend who had the kids. Loved it.

    A great summer read

I read this book in one sitting. Though it took numerous hours (and a break to repower my dying iPad) it was worth the time. Written in very simple prose, the author takes us on a journey of an incredibly strong woman who lives through the worst time in our collective memory. While it didn't move me as much as The Nightingale, it definitely held my attention for an entire day.
