  • Kaybree versus the Angels

I found the concept fairly interesting, and the writing competent, but there were parts where some editing might have caught inconsistencies. For example, Kaybree is fastened to her bed, her mother walks to the door, then caresses her daughters face, then leaves. Those kind of things spoil the suspension of disbelief, and I often wondered how Kaybree and her friends were under constant surveillance yet managed to escape notice. Not enough info at times to make the story believable, because we readers do notice anything that detracts from the smooth flow of the story. Did not like the ending. No satisfaction of something resolved, it just ended abruptly with a brief statement as to how the protagonist came to be in the situation she found herself. After just reading the story telling us how, it was superfluous and flat. With a liitle more care with details a sequel might be worth reading, but I won't go out my way to follow Kaybree's further adventures. I prefer a resolution at the end of a story, not something hanging in air with the expectation that the reader will seek out volume two in a trilogy. Tolkien really started something, everything must be divided into three volumes now, even if a story could be told in one fell swoop!
