    Great Read!

I'll start this by saying that I am a huge K.A. Tucker fan and have been reading and reviewing her books since her young adult paranormal books way back in the beginning. The type of books have changed over the years and I can't say gotten better and that's because they are always wonderful. I have loved all of them and there are only a few authors I can say that about. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to dive right into this one. Noah is the adult son of the chief of police of Austin, Texas. When his mother is suddenly gone, it's up to Noah to handle all the details. One major detail comes to him in the form of a note from his mother telling him to take something to her ex-partner's daughter in Tuscon. Grace's dead father was killed by a drug dealer fourteen years ago. After a huge scandal surrounding his death, she was taken to Tuscon to live in near poverty by her drug addicted mother. When Noah shows up at her home, at first she doesn't want much to do with him-until he gives her what his mother wanted him to bring. The two realize that things at the Austin police department aren't what they seem, and her father was blamed for things he didn't do. Now they have to prove it. And in order to do it, one of their family will probably take the hit. Trying to stay away from spoilers is not easy with this book! I really enjoyed how well drawn the characters were and even the deceased characters have a POV at times. Going back and forth in time really worked for me as the reader, by giving me a look at what happened fourteen years before as well as what is happening now. I ended up really caring for a lot of these characters-even one of the deceased ones in particular. I thought Noah and Grace were good people that had been put into a bad situation. A situation that can only have an ending that will be bad for one and good for the other. Their slow burn romance was pretty great as well. I know this is billed as romantic suspense, but there actually wasn't as much suspense as I thought there would be. Instead, it was a gripping murder mystery with several suspenseful scenes. And some romantic moments as well. Intricately plotted, the reader pretty much knows who the villains are. Or at least can guess. It's the how they go about proving their case after fourteen years that kept me turning the pages and on the edge of my seat wanting the bad guys to be taken down! It was very a satisfying read and even had a twist at one point that I didn't see coming. Always a good thing! I would highly recommend this read to adult readers of suspense, mystery, and romance, although it's more a mystery than a full blown romance, In the end however, I was very happy with the romance as well. My thanks to the publisher via Net Galley, for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

    ***4 Stars***

***4 Stars*** Having thoroughly enjoyed Until It Fades, my first and only read by the author (I am working at getting to the ones on my TBR, I promise), I was more than ready to dive into another book of hers and when I saw the cover to Keep Her Safe (which is absolutely beautiful) and found out it was romantic suspense, I knew I’d find a way to get my hands on it in one way or another and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I didn’t devour it, it wasn’t that kind of read for me, it was more of a...let me put this down so I can digest what I just read and see if I can put a few pieces together and then get back to it kind of read, because I ALWAYS went back to it. I loved how each piece of the puzzle was presented, worked out and then put together in the end and though Noah and Gracie drove me just a little cray cray, I ended up loving them in the end. Noah and Gracie are two sides of a coin. One doesn’t trust easily while the other does and both had a tendency to take things to the extreme. There were quite a few times when I wanted to yell at them both for their actions (but didn’t because doing that at work would make me look crazier than my co-workers already think I am) but I understood why. They are products of their upbringing and it has colored their view of the world around them. Both are stubborn in their own ways and yet have good hearts that only want the truth to come out, even if it destroys them. Their romance is a slow burning one especially since the one link they have is a tenuous one. Trust takes a while to build between them, but as they work together towards finding the truth behind what happened to Gracie’s dad, they become more than just co-amatuer detectives, they become friends, allies and more and I really liked where they were at in their relationship when everything was said and done. As I said in the beginning, I didn’t devour Keep Her Safe. I did put it down, but it was so I could process everything that the author was throwing our way, especially in the beginning. The crumbs did exactly what they were meant to, be bait and I was hooked. I kept looking at everything and everyone as a suspect and tried to see how it all could fit together. I did put a few of the pieces together before they were explained, but there were a few that surprised me and yet it all made perfect sense in the end. Keep Her Safe was another hit for me. The characters were well written and I enjoyed the multiple 1st person POV’s and what they brought to the story. I also liked how everything felt real from the motives behind each characters actions and reactions, to how everything played out in the end. So, if you like a good slow burn romantic suspense whose conclusion will leave you satisfied, then pick this one up! ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley & voluntarily reviewed ~

Packed with so much you need to savour it!

Wow. Kathleen has done it again. I’m never hesitant to read a book she’s written even when she tosses out “warnings” about how she’s never written a story quite like this. I rub my hands together and say “bring it!” And boy!! She brought it with this one. This books is jammed with so much going on that I had to savour it a little longer than I usually take to read her books. I would read a few chapters at a time and then would have to sit and let it soak in. I will say that this book definitely isn’t a one-day read, but please don’t let that deter you from diving in. So right from the start you’re tossed into some crazy-serious drama. For fourteen years, Noah Marshall thought that Abraham Wilkes died because of shady dealings with the drug world. All that changes in the days after his mother’s death. He seeks out Abe’s daughter, Grace, and together they try to find out what really happened to Abe. Keep Her Safe was a very suspenseful read but I did find myself laughing at some of the comedic relief here and there. Thank goodness for Cyclops. That dog is simply the best. And just when you thought you had it all figured out, just when you’re like “okay, things are done” you’re hit with another twist. I honestly can say I did not see it coming. When you read it you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - I’ll read anything Kathleen writes and I’m so glad that I will. Keep Her Safe has easily slipped into my most favourite read of hers. Top read of the year. *An ARC was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. *

    A thrilling read

Keep her safe is a must read. K.A. Tucker takes this novel out of the contemporary romance genre and makes it a murder, mystery, thriller story. Keep Her Safe has to be one of my favorites so far. She creates a world of secrets and slowly unravels them one by one, all the way to the end. This is a great novel to start with if your new to K.A. Tuckers books or if your a fan of the burying water series. This novel covers subjects that could be recommended for a mature audience due to some of the topics involved.  I only have good things to say about Keep Her Safe. It's a novel that you can't put down and I'm already ready to read it again. Complimentary copy provided by publisher and netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Superb book filled with suspense and heartache

Keep Her Safe could very well be K.A. Tucker's best work to date. And believe me, I've read all of her books and I have loved all of her books. But this one has me spellbound in a way that renders me speechless. This is a story that is so much more than what appears on the surface. A story that is multi-layered and complicated and completely engrossing to the point where I was both anxious and impatient to turn the page. I don't often feel that way and as I sit here, only minutes after reading the very last words, I can't help but want to go back and start all over again. It's that brilliant. The web of mystery that surrounds the death of Officer Abraham Wilkes back in 2003 is about to turn his former partner's son's life upside down in 2017. Noah Marshall never could have imagined that a note from his late mother could put him on the most unusual and surprising journey of his young life. But wanting to right so many wrongs that he begins to uncover one by one is one heck of a mission. And with Abe's daughter Gracie by his side, I was as gobsmacked as they were as the layers get peeled away and the truth desperately finds a way to be free. I am in awe of K.A. Tucker. The meticulous way she writes is mesmerizing. I couldn't look away from my Kindle if I tried. As everything unfolds and Noah and Gracie stumble and fall on their quest for the truth, I was once again lost in the author's words. The words that make my heart beat faster as they uncover multiple wrong-doings they can't believe truly happened. The words that make my heart sing because despite all they have endured, Noah and Gracie manage to see the other as not only as someone to lean on but as someone to love. Yes there is some happiness to find amidst the heartache. Sometimes just in the form of a hand to hold and sometimes in the form of a one-eyed ratty stray dog named Cyclops. There is so much tenderness despite all the sadness and shock that Noah and Gracie continue to experience. And underneath it all is the hope that good will trump evil and those who were innocent all along will finally get their due. Keep Her Safe is a book to savor. There are no words written that aren't necessary. Each one is part of a masterfully crafted story that will undoubtedly leave you amazed. I know I am. K.A. Tucker has outdone herself and Keep Her Safe will definitely be at the top of my list of favorite reads for 2018. It is outstanding and a book not to be missed.
