  • Amazing, dark tale.

Daniel “Kick” Johnson is part of a brotherhood who would give their lives for one another. The MC’s ties to each other run thicker than blood. Kick has a dirty past made up of lies, betrayal and violence that have made him into a soulless monster. The only thing he ever had was his loyalty to his club and not once, but twice a woman made him turn against the men he thought were his brothers. In this story, he is not the hero, he is the villain and he will screw up and lose her too. Kayla a victim of abduction by three cruel, inhuman men, who used, abused and raped her over the course of three weeks. Then one day she is taken from her cruel tormentors only to be abducted yet again by a biker who claims to want to help her. However, can she trust him, will he protect her as he says even from his own biker brothers. Why does he want to help her? Why is she drawn to his darkness? Will she ever be free? My review: I find myself drawn lately to books that have warnings like Kick does “Not intended for pussies” perfect statement right there. This is a gritty story that pulls you into its darkness from the first few pages. I love a book that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until you’re gasping for your last breath. Kick is an anti-hero of the highest order; he takes what he wants and damns the consequences. For the second time in his life he finds a woman, he cannot resist but he is poison to her just as he was poison to the one before her. Kayla or Indie as Kick takes to calling her I love that nickname, is kidnapped, horribly tormented, and brutalized by three sadist men. Kick is trying to save her and help her exact her revenge on the men who hurt her. He also happens to want her bad; the sexual tension between these two is hot. It is not your flowers and chocolate kind of romance. It’s dirty and grimy but you want to keep reading because it is that good. It is a non-stop thrill ride that takes you to flashbacks of Kicks past indiscretions and then back again to the present where he seems to be making the same mistakes. This time he’s older, wiser, smarter maybe. I love how he wears his heart on his sleeve, but doesn’t even realize he does it. He is so vulnerable, but he hides it behind a tough exterior and a leather MC patch. I wanted to hate him because he is not a good guy, but yet he is a good guy he just loves differently than your average fellow and I loved it. Indie starts as a victim, but with Kick’s help, she becomes a fighter who stops at nothing to get her vengeance. You just have to root for this couple to end up together even though they are both so royally screwed up. This was the first book of Carmen Jenner’s I have read, after the first few chapters I added the rest of her books to my to be read list. I am hoping that Tank and Ivy are the subjects of book two because I think their story will really knock us on our asses. Highly recommend if you are into the MC genre, you should be warned it is a dark book; there are rapes, violence, murder and mayhem. If you can’t stomach the occasional brain splatter this is not the book for you. Received and ARC from TRSOR Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

  • beautifully tortured man...

Torture... ...severe mental or physical pain We are taken on a dark journey full of bloodshed and brutality. Carmen Jenner weaves a darkened world full of murk that consumes you within the pages of her destructive tale. Misery, sorrow, suffering and turmoil paints the road of rampage that we are forced to travel in order to truly understand the H. This book will grab you, cast a gloomy, shadowy cloud over your head, wrap you up in somber right before it snuffs the light out of you; dimming the world you once knew. But the kicker, well the kicker is Kick himself... Kick is a different breed of man. He carries the burden of his sins as well as the weight of his loss. He entraps the violence that entices him and makes it his own person nightmare. He embraces the rage that courses through his veins and revels in...BUT, he is so much more than the beautifully tortured man with scars that only tell half his story. Indie is one of the strongest female characters I have met. Her journey of self discovery was just as alluring and appealing as Kick's. Her perfect life is unwrapped as she is thrown into a world full of hurt, pain, and torment. She is crushed, beyond broken to the point where she wants to die...BUT, even at her weakest she still has strength. She still has fight in her. Watching her grow into the woman that took her life back from her captors was one of the most beautiful journeys I have had the pleasure of taking. This novel is flawlessly written with a mind-altering story line and concept. I won't lie to you though, this is not an easy story to digest. There are situations that will literally gut you BUT, I would also be lying if I didn't let you know that there is just as much beauty within these pages as there is ugliness. There is beauty within this story and within these characters, you just have to fight through the darkness.

  • Buy concealer.

Oh my.... another book which messed up my sleeping rhythm. One of the reasons is that you get practically two stories in one. For those of you who hope for a lot of scenes to jack off ( or whatever the English equivalent for the female sex is in that case) I guess you should buy another book. But nevertheless, that makes it not bad, it is just about expectations. The two stories you get is in flashbacks the first love of Kick which ends horrendously as already hinted in the prologue. The second story plays in the present and shows a complete messed up Kick. He is psychologically damaged by how he was treated in his youth and the way he lost his first love or should I rather say obsession. In the present he saves a woman from a hostage situation in which she was already tortured over several weeks and is nearly as damaged as himself. What I liked about the story and what the author mentions in the introduction is this: MC life is crime, is messy , doesn't leave you liberties and is as constricting as the mafia just with motorcycles. The author does not paint that live pretty ( as far as I can judge as an outsider) , but as violent and misogynistic as I guess it would be. And that made that book good and believable. So buy concealer, because you won't get sleep. At least I didn't ;)

  • Kick is Crazy Great, and NEEDS to be read NOW!!

Kick is that story that you never knew you wanted to love. So deep and dark it grips you from the recesses of your mind and jumps over every wall you have built up in your heart, only to rip, crumble everything in its wake while leaving you astounded. I am blown away with how much emotion I still have for this story and it’s been days, many days and I am still thinking about Kick. So the only thing that really needs to be said is that Kick is killer and Carmen Jenner has done it again, giving her loyal readers and new readers alike one hell of a story. So what’s it all about? Well the synopsis will tell you but in my words; Kick is about survival, retribution, well deserved revenge, insight, deep rooted love and my favorite, Redemption. This is no hearts and flowers story and I would definitely pay attention to the warning Ms. Jenner has provided. Kick does center on some pretty serious life situations in detail and will test your will, test your morals and overall test what you thought you wanted in your reading, giving you that story you never knew you could hold dear to your heart. I loved this book with how it scared me into submission only to warmly caress and coax me into being its partner. Kick is not the first book from this author that I have read, in fact I have read every book she has written, she has a way with words that open up a new world for you, gently guiding you on the path that she wants you to be vividly on even if the story never went in the direction she expected it to go, at first. Kick is no exception and gives you another example as to why Carmen Jenner is a Bestselling Author. Yes the plot line is basically an MC Series but that’s where the similarities end. Kick is gritty to the fullest extent, scary at times, and downright so real that you have to remind yourself this is just a story and not a biography of what could possibly happen in life. Kick is sweet, and he is good, and unbelievably sexy that you have no willpower to resist him. Kick doesn’t have your traditional HEA but it does have an ending and a satisfying one at best. Also it pays to know that Kick is the introduction book to the Savage Saints MC series and I will definitely be wanting book 2!! So in end, I know I have given you nothing about this book because that is my job. My job is to let you know why I give this book the rating I do and I think I have done Kick justice. Whoever is reading this however needs to grab this ASAP and dive into the deep. I’m not giving this a 5 star or 6 star or even 10 stars, I feel this book is in a class of its own. I am simply stating this book is off the chain, crazy great, and NEEDS to be read. (*) I was given an advanced copy in exchanged for my honest review. (*)
