A celebration of a great tradition

Again a thoroughly enjoyable romp through Lady Osbaldestone's Christmas. This time what is being searched for is not actually in the title but, if you remember Australia's threepences and sixpences, then the link is there. It's a great thread, linking the quest to Britain's archaeological past and the solution to the quest is totally fitting. There are two romances here - one with a promising future and one which is bittersweet but full of maturity. I particularly like the solution to the quest which involves the Ashmolean Museum. Having donated items to Victoria Barracks, the Sydney Cricket Ground Museum and the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney in memory of my parents I can well appreciate the concept of leaving things for future generations while at the same time honouring the past. I look forward to next year's meeting with George, Jamie and Charlotte, their cousins Mandy and Melly, and their grandmother Lady O, as well as revisiting our starcrossed couple some time in the future.

    Lady O’s Plum Puddings

Just as with the first two Lady O Christmas books, I smiled my way through this third installment. Once again it is a wonderfully clean read, and the characters are again delightful. Add to that a Roman hoard mystery and an eager group of young people, and Ms. Laurens has created yet another winner. I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Plum Puddings’ and it is firmly on my ‘keeper’ shelf with the first two Lady O Christmas books. I can hardly wait for the next installment!

    Lady Osbaldestone's Plum Puddings

It's Christmas time again in Little Merton and Stephanie Lauren's has once again brought a delightful mystery to the season. Searching for the origin of three Roman coins that have appeared in a collection of coins to be used for plum puddings Lady O and her staff are making for the village, her five grandchildren and other recurring characters seek among the villagers and the surrounding area for the source of the coins. A couple of visitors are this story's object of romance and aid in the search. The story is light and engaging except for the forboding separation of Lady O's granddaughter, Melissa, and Lord Dagenham because of their youth. The author assures us in a postscipt that their story will continue, but 10 years in their future! What a long time to wait! But I know it will be worth it.
