    Lady with a Black Umbrella

I'm very pleased so many of Mary Balogh's earlier works have finally appeared digitally. Previously I had only picked up a couple that turned up second hand in charity shops! The characters are all well rounded. In particular I like how well she does men - far too many romance authors have got stuck on Mr Darcy or Heathcliffe and seem unable to describe any other. Our heroine is quite spectacularly irritating and I was engaged enough to want to slap her! Which shows it's good, because normally if that happens I simply stop reading and move on to a new book.

    Adorable!

Beware of a lady carrying a man's large black umbrella! I chuckled my way through this charming book from start to finish. I've discovered another Regency Romance writer who remembers that a good story has great characters as well as a great plot. Thank you Ms. Balogh for a very enjoyable read. k@

    Vintage Balogh

I loved this book. It was sweet, at times astringent, and an altogether hilarious story. Wonderful characters with HEA. Echoes of Heyer made this a thoroughly enjoyable read. I read it one sitting to 2:15 am.
