Nothing special about this book. The synopsis gives the feeling of a great plot. But it is like an exceptional trailer of a mediocre movie. The author is heavily influenced by American/British political thriller, for sure. However, his contempt towards corruption existing in the Indian system, particularly in his home state, and the poor attempt to emphasize it strongly in the novel is the main drawback. It is felt that he had been a victim of such corruption and he felt choosing a such platform (English novel with an attention creating title) to bring his plight in front of large English-speaking audience. Another drawback is excessive concentration on characters from author’s culture background. This may alienate other readers (rather than from his home state) from having an effective interest in it. The author should have written the story in his native language under such circumstances. The only good thing is the simplicity in the usage of English. If the author’s attempt was sincere (to dream about the possibility of having peace between India and Pakistan and present the idea) then he has done it pathetically. In short it is the written form of a typical Bollywood cliché masala movie.
