    Awesome Boxed set!

Lairds and Lords: Medeival Scots and Regency Rakes Box Set by Julie Johnstone is a collection of three different and amazing, Regency and Medevial Scottish Romance. Three very different Romances, from three different series, "Whisper of Scandal Series", "Once Upon a Rogue Series", and "Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts Series", each is the first book in that particular series! I read all three previously, and couldn’t resist buying this incredible Boxed set as well. What an enticing way for readers to read the beginning of each series, that way they can decide if they wish to continue reading, the next installment in each series. "Bargaining With a Rake: A Whisper of Scandal Novel", "My Fair Duchess: A Once Upon a Rogue Novel" and "When a Laird Loves a Lady: Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts". Each title is mesmerizing and intriguing! The characters are engaging, well-developed and captivating, to me. The storyline is powerful, enticing and very entertaining with entanglements and the possibility of love and HEA. From rakes, rogues, Scots and their ladies and lass to trust, healing, intrigue, and love, readers will be captivated and held in awe with Julie Johnstone's writing and her captivating words. She is definitely a masterful storyteller! Regency and Scottish Romance fans will definitely enjoy this brilliantly written Historical Romance Boxed set. A great way to see of you enjoy this author's writing. Highly recommended! Rating: 4.5 Heat rating: Mild Reviewed by: AprilR

Excellent First in a Series Box Set

MY FAIR DUCHESS A vow at the time of his birth has shaped Colin, the Duke of Aversley, into a jaded man. A man who does not trust women and classifies them all into deceitful lot – his mother being the top offender. Lady Amelia De Vere has long held 2 beliefs – 1) she’s not pretty and 2) she’s in love with Charles, the young Lord who rescued her when she was young. When Colin receives notice that his best friend, Phillip, is to wed he makes his way to the estate to talk him out of it. Receiving a request from his mother he stops there first – the reason: his beloved father left a letter to be delivered to Colin after his death and if Colin had not married by the age of 25. A letter that states Colin must marry FOR LOVE before the age of 26 or lose all his inheritance that is not entailed. Making his way to his Phillip’s estate Colin stews on this information. Upon arriving at Phillip’s estate Colin realizes things have changed and the dire financial circumstances that Phillip faces. Crafting a way to give Phillip the money he needs without Phillip refusing, Colin bets Phillip that he can polish up his sister and prove that she will become like all women – want nothing more than money and title. If Colin wins then he pays all of Phillips debts and if Phillip wins Colin will marry Amelia (which solves his problem of a wife) and never mention giving money to Phillip again. Amelia finds herself fascinated by her brother’s friend, the cold emotionless Colin, and is extremely grateful when he fetches Phillip from the town pub where he has gone to drown his failed engagement. After returning from a humiliating outing Amelia finds out about the wager. At first she’s totally against it – she shouldn’t need false pretenses to earn the love and attention of a man. Until she realizes this is Colin’s way of helping Phillip and since she has not intentions of changing she doesn’t worry about Phillip losing the bet. Oh how the seemingly simple becomes so complicated. The more time Colin spends with Amelia the more he realizes the true goodness within her. The more time Amelia spends with Colin the more she sees the tortured soul. Will either one of them realize their love for the other. If Colin does will he recognize it for what it is? Will old fights, lurking evil, a mother willing to do anything to save her children and a mother wanting to repair her relationship with her son help or hinder their love? Julie Johnstone does an amazing job of playing to an emotional rollercoaster starting from the prologue. Not only is there excellent interaction between the main characters but involving secondary characters as well. My Fair Duchess will have you rooted to your seat from the very beginning to the very end. Fair warning – be prepared for you heart to fill then drop as each scene plays out. A definite A++ book in my opinion. WHEN A LAIRD LOVES A LADY Marion de Lacy is determined to take the control of who she marries from her diabolical father’s hands with a well thought out plan of escape. Alas, things have to be hurried along as her fiancée arrives sooner than expected. Set upon by the very person she is running from and rescued by a man she soon learns is her only hope for escape. Marion is forced to decide which of the lesser of two evils to take. Neither of which will provide the love she so longs to have. Iain MacLeod is still reeling from the death of his beloved wife when he is summoned to England for discussions on the release of the Scottish King. He’s to suffer another blow when a condition of the King’s release is that Iain marry the daughter of a Baron, who the English King believes is in a conspiracy to overthrow the throne. Resigned to a life with a spoiled Englishwoman Iain is relieved to learn he will not have to go through with the wedding as his bride has unexpectedly died. He’s surprised to learn that the woman he comes upon being bullied in a small village is actually the cold Englishwoman he thought he would be saddled with for the rest of his life. Evil and unscrupulous persons, a former love and misunderstandings all stand in the way of what Iain and Marion come to learn is love. These two will need all the strength and determination to accept that love and to overcome all the obstacles in their way for a happily ever after. Julie Johnstone’s first foray into Medieval Romance is a huge hit! Ms. Johnstone captures your attention from the first paragraph and doesn’t let go until “THE END” is written. She has written Marion as a woman of strength and determination with an inner heart in need of love. Iain is the loyal, family oriented Scottish Laird who has little problem accepting what he must for the sake of his family and King. Then she throws in twists and turns but don’t get comfortable thinking you know who the bad person is…she’ll throw you for a loop. Not only are her hero and heroine characters interesting, she also writes her secondary characters in a way that will have y
