Shifter's Mates, Book 4, by Raisa Greywood

SPOILER ALERT: THIS IS BOOK FOUR IN THIS SERIES. THIS SERIES SHOULD DEFINITELY BE READ IN ORDER. IF YOU HAVEN’T READ BOOKS 1, 2 AND 3, THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. Daiyu and Dakar have made their escape, but at what cost? Yes, they saved some, but how many were left behind? And, yes, Norkad’s finally dead. But he died by his own hand, taking his secrets with him. There’s no knowing just what those secrets were, right? Yet it seems what Norkad held so dear has just come to life. This is impossible! Battle cruisers that can’t possibly exist show up on Earth just as Daiyu, Dakar, and Dakar’s crew return. Why? How? No one knows. And there’s no time to wait for reinforcements. It’s just Daiyu, Dakar, his crew and a handful of humans and shifters. They’re no match for the marauders. Even with Markon, Soledad, and the others on their way, there’s no coming back from this. Daiyu’s a fearsome warrior, but even she can’t escape Norkad’s retribution. She awakens to a never-ending nightmare. There’s the tiniest, most infinitesimal, of hopes. Can she do this? It hasn’t happened in generations. If she can’t pull this off, it’s not just her life on the line. Her mate won’t survive without her. Every shifter on Earth, Earth itself, will die. When the blackest of evil shows its face, Daiyu pulls out every drop of strength in her soul. Is it enough? Were the stories of the ancients truth or just fairytales? One thing is certain. Daiyu has to believe and fight to her last breath. If she doesn’t, everything and everyone are gone forever! To combine paranormal, sci-fi, and shifter elements into one romance series is something I’ve never experienced before. The intelligence and beauty behind Ms. Greywood’s writing is extraordinary. It’s obvious that her imagination is unparalleled. The genuineness of her knowledge of people and places around the world is abundantly evident. Paranormal romance is one of my favorite genres, but Raisa Greywood raises it to a whole new level. The characters in all the books of this series are delightful! Each one is beautifully crafted, and you can’t help but love them all. Daiyu and Dakar rule this story. Their love is so special, fraught with emotion but also full of conflict. Their battles, with each other and with their enemies, are epic! There truly aren’t words to express how exceptional these two are. But, just as with any book, the supporting characters bring spice and completeness to this story. Renata, Rakon, and Fengar make return appearances, and are as delightful as ever, especially Fengar. We learn far more about Soledad and the reasons behind her existence and actions. Add Markon, and there’s enough dynamite to blow any starship out of the sky. Daiyu’s parents, Akari, Jinjing, Huang, Tamek, even the Dalai Lama, add backstory without which the story would be incomplete. Raisa Greywood has done it again! I love this story and can’t give it less than five stars! A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and all booksellers' websites. Please use these resources. I urge you to leave a review, but with a proviso. Please don’t leave a negative review when you know you won’t enjoy the book. It's not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to a book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice. Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
