Hilarious mystery with a Texas twist.

You know that feeling when you watch an adventure movie and near the end the hero and heroine have soundly defeated the bad guys? Lethal Literature offers that feeling of exhilaration that had me cheering least three times! So awesome! I loved every minute of Lethal Literature! While swooning over Mateo and Cade, and a couple of other old friends, is a serious plus especially that one perfect gesture, this book would be a winner without any hunks because these women carry the action as well as any guy could. My favorite scene is one in which a bad guy is spotted on Main Street. I think every female in town got in a swipe, even our favorite pink armadillo. I love that Kym Roberts addresses real life issues; domestic violence is a theme through LL. One old bias still lingers and leads Charli Rae to a discovery that almost floors her, but she isn't one to stay down long. That sneaking monster Alzheimer’s raises its filthy claw here too. Ms. Roberts’ phrase, “trapped in the clutches of Alzheimer’s” aptly describes that nightmare to which many of us can relate. Of course, despite the serious issues, danger and death, the delightful humor is one of the star of the book and it helps provide balance to this wonderful nontraditional cozy mystery. I was thrilled to receive an ARC copy of Lethal Literature; I adore t his series and this book is a perfect match for the earlier novels. I want everyone to love it as much as I do. I was thrilled have a chance to read an ARC of Lethal Literature via NetGalley. I hope all my friends and followers love it as much as I do.

Murder follows Charli like a shadow!

The cutest town with the highest murder rate in Texas returns! Charli Rae (aka Princess) is back with the rest of the Hazel Rock Crew and sure enough mayhem, murder and mystery aren't that far behind! Charli is involved in fundraising for books for Foster families. But she has a couple of big shocks to her system coming. Like realising her father has a life which may not centre around her, the Mayor has been keeping secrets and Mateo...well they might just get to spend some time together...at last! But when Charli's dad gets caught up with an investigation into the murder of Ava, assistant to the puritanical, tyrannical former sheriff of Hazel Rock and Charli's teenage Nemesis, Charli and Scarlet end up knee deep in the investigation. Ava was the victim of domestic abuse and Charli follows the trail of devastation to Dallas. She learns some family secrets along the way that may just clear up a few of her childhood memories. I love this series so much. The characters all leap off the page and into my brain. With the usual Hazel Rock quirky inhabitants popping up to be some comic relief, Charli deals with some powerfully emotive topics such as domestic abuse, child neglect, the Foster Care System and does so with care, empathy and conviction. There are family twists that I DID NOT see coming but explains so much! Mateo...well he is just such a sweetheart even when he has to be cop Mateo and not boyfriend Mateo. The scene in Dallas, well that just took my breath away! Come on Hazel Rock, what are you going to come up with next!
