  • Grab the tissues!

Grab the tissues before you settle in to read this one, folks! In this series, Emily was a loose end. An enigma. The one very important person that we don't really hear much from or learn about. It could be easy to relegate her to the past, except... She doesn't stay there. She's determined to be heard. For some of us, it's hard not to be angry with Emily at first, even with what we know about her. That's because we don't yet know her. Through these letters, we finally get that chance. I'll admit that I looked forward to hearing Em's side of the story mainly because of Tommy. If Tommy loves and trusts someone, they're good people; no argument from me. The guy has great instincts and will always be my favorite Stratford. Getting to know his best friend is a blessing. Emily is a complex person. In some ways you could say she's controlling, because she makes certain decisions that steer the lives of several people and she doesn't consult them on what they'd choose for themselves if they'd had any say. She believes she knows what's best for everyone, what will hurt them the least and give them the best chance to be happy... and maybe she's right. She has opinions on everything from driving to true love, and you won't want to reach the end of this one. Emily is sassy, sweet, funny, and you want to keep knowing her forever. But that's the problem, isn't it. If you've read the first three books, you know what happened to Emily. You know that she's no longer with us. And yet... She always will be. Come along for this trip. Down memory lane. Into the future. And trust me on the tissues.

    Thanks for your feedback!
