License to Shift by Kathy Lyons

License to Shift by Kathy Lyons A light hearted shifter romance. I laughed out loud (in public!) several times in this amusing story of a bear shifter who is, at times, closer to bear than human. I loved the whole first scene where he is trying to open the door after being asleep for three days. And when he hands her the coffee and his bear is so proud of feeding his mate. Then the point where she agrees to have dinner with him but she asks him to put on pants first for her own sanity. Priceless. The story takes on a bit of suspense that puts the hero and heroine together to solve a pack problem. So much fun and quite a bit sexy too. I can't wait to read the next in this series.

    Mark is the perfect Grizzly

License to Shift is the second book in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series by Kathy Lyons. This book can be read as a standalone in the series but since it has reoccurring characters from the first book I would recommend reading the first installment as well. Mark Robertson is a bear shifter who knows his days are coming to an end. As the son of two powerful bear shifters, his bear gene is stronger and more dominant than that of other shifters. As a result his grizzly side has slowly been taking over his body and mind since he was sixteen. He knows he is going feral, losing his human side, and it is just a matter of time before he will have to be “put down”. His will power to keep going is dwindling as all hope of finding a cure is being exhausted. That is when a piece of his past comes back in the form of Julie Simon, the one woman he and his bear has always wanted to claim. Julie is back in town after her father’s heart attack. She is trying to round up her father’s journals and research to take to the hospital for him. Part of the research includes visiting Mark Robertson, her old nemesis and crush, house. When she comes face to face with the man she has always wanted she feels the old flame fire back up. He was always good looking and huge but now he is even more sexy and larger than life. Some things haven’t changed though, it is eight years later and he still seems to run hot and cold when it comes to her. When Mark volunteers to help Julie track down her father’s research work she doesn’t know how to act. While she wants to push him away and can’t deny the attraction and pull she still has towards the man. Mark wants to spend what little time he has left with the woman that should have been his but his grizzly side is pushing for him to take more, to make Julie theirs. When Julie’s life becomes threatened Mark and his grizzly vow to protect her even if it means letting his grizzly finally take over for good. I really enjoyed this book! The author did an excellent job with the characters and the story is very well written. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good shape-shifting or paranormal romance novel. I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

    Exciting and Suspenseful

License to Shift is book two in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series. It’s a second chance love story, with suspense, intrigue, and so much more. This is my first time reading this series and author. I didn’t fell like I was missing something. The author did a terrific job making this story stand-a-lone. There where parts I liked, parts that were a little odd to me, but all in all it was a suspenseful and satisfying read. Mark is on the verge of becoming his bear completely and you see this through the pages. Their is so much struggle and hope that he goes through. Then we have Julie who is only in town because of a family emergency. These two have a small past and now they may get a chance to work out what happened back then and in the process save Mark. The way the story started was a bit slow, but once I got deeper in, things picked up and oh boy the suspense. Another thing that really frustrated me was the lack of communication. I felt they needed to talk more about what was bothering them from the past, but of course she’s not in on the secret until something bad happens and then she is told. I also got frustrated with the way Julie acted at times. Their where several exciting and suspenseful moments and some unanswered questions, but the book is complete and delivers an eventful read. I’m curious enough to check out all the books in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series.
