    A Great Collection

A great collection of books. I read all three in a matter of days, it was hard to put it down. Three very entertaining and fast paced stories that kept you guessing. I enjoyed them so much I going to have to get all the books in the series.

Great Series, Loved All Three Books

I've been such a fan of Diane Capri's Jack Reacher novels, I'd completely overlooked her other thrillers. That error has been taken care of, and am I ever glad. I thoroughly enjoyed these novels and the journey I was taken on through the court and political systems, a less extreme portion of the South in Florida than the South where I live, and the shadows behind the veneers of the wealthy and powerful at the turn of the millennium. There's intrigue that starts on the first page of the first book and keeps building as each story unfolds. Willa Carson, Federal Court Judge, is a unique and compelling protagonist. She's lost a lot, gained a great deal through her own efforts, but always seems to get caught between the hard rock of her position as a judge and her family. It seems she can't seem to catch a break, but she never breaks down and gives up, even if there are tears now and again. I also identified with the "Mighty Mouse" she felt rising in herself when it came to protecting those she calls her own, as well as her escape into her work. In Twisted Justice, Willa is just as human as in the first, and just as nicely crafted, tall and smoking her high-end cigars when she needs a break and some relaxation. This time her husband has gotten himself worked into a frenzy of politics, and ends up being arrested for the murder of the man he had strongly opposed being appointed to the Supreme Court. In Secret Justice, Wilhelmina gets hit with her father introducing her to his new bride, who is very young and pregnant, then the death of her friend and court secretary's husband during the yearly festival of pirates. And that's just the beginning. This one had a more cozy feel to it, but the plot took some nice turns that kept the tension going and the surprises coming. Because these novels are set at the turn of the millennium, and this boxed set has come out now, I was hoping there was a chance Willa and George would be returning, post-'08 financial meltdown. For that reason, I say one of the best parts of this trilogy are the last words at the end of the set, letting readers know that more will be coming soon. Yes!

For the Connoisseur of the Whodunnit Genre

Judge Willa Carson, rather than confining herself to presiding in court, cannot resist pushing the boundaries of judicial propriety. In DUE JUSTICE, Judge Carson is reluctantly drawn into the mystery surrounding a body found floating in Tampa Bay when her 'sister' confesses to knowing the body's identity. As the circumstances leading up to the murder are uncovered, Willa is confronted with the question of how far she is prepared to stretch legal boundaries to protect someone she loves. A fast-paced.novel full of intrigue and twists keep the reader wondering who did what to whom and why they did throughout the story. In TWISTED JUSTICE, Judge Willa Carson is dealing with a husband she doesn't recognise, a crumbling marriage and the very real possibility that her husband will be jailed for a crime he did not commit. This is a slow moving story heavily punctuated with Willa's ruminations about her husband's behaviour and their future. The repetitiveness and inconclusive nature of these thoughts became tedious rather than illustrating Willa's justified frustration at being deliberately kept in the dark. I also found the 'mystery' to be rife with disappointingly predictable stereotypes. Despite these deficiencies, the novel examines a number of contemporary social and important relationship issues making it a worthwhile read. Set during Tampa’s annual Gasparilla Pirate Festival, SECRET JUSTICE, entwines the hedonistic party attitude of the revelers with the greed of the social elite. Judge Willa Carson is drawn into attempting to solve two murders when her long-time secretary and friend, Margaret Wheaton, is accused of the crimes. This complicated tale of deceit and corruption is further complicated by the arrival of Willa's estranged step-father with his beautiful, young trophy wife. Willa's investigation navigates a tightrope of impropriety given that one of the murdered is the defendant in the case currently before her court. The convoluted twists in this fast-paced story keep the reader wondering what secrets are yet to be revealed. I recommend this compendium to connoisseurs of the Whodunnit genre. Good Read, enough twists and turns

I liked this book and bought when it was the daily deal or something like that. Well worth the purchase. I loved the characters and that they went through all three books. All of them were well written who did it with lots of possiblities to keep you reading. Well done will definitely read her again.
